The first Nikon’s announcement for 2015 will be either on or around January 5th (for the CES show in Vegas) or on/around January 16th, 2015. Another round of new products could also be introduced for the CP+ show in February. A quick rumors recap on what to expect from Nikon in the next few months:
- Nikon D7200 camera (very good chance, no firm announcement date for now)
- Nikon D5500 camera (this one is guaranteed)
- Nikon will also announce three new low-cost Coolpix cameras (very good chance). One of the new Coolpix cameras could be with a new 1″ sensor
- New Nikkor 300mm f/4 lens (this could be announced later in 2015, do not have a release date yet)
- Nikon 24mm f/1.8 lens (very good chance)
- New Nikkor telephoto lenses with fluorite (FL) element – this is more of a long term goal and it will take few years until they replace all lenses mentioned
Wishful thinking/don’t hold your breath rumors:
- Full frame Nikon mirrorless camera (only based on a patent)
- New camera system with lens and sensor in one unit – something similar to Sony’s lens camera modules (somehow I have the feeling that Nikon will release something that connects to your smartphone)
- Other lens rumors (low probability): 200mm f/4, 16mm f/2.8, fast DX zoom, updated 24-70 f/2.8 VR lens designed with video in mind (see patent application)
