Nikon & Ritz camera (science fiction essay, part 2)

Disclaimer - since this post involves the finances of a publicly traded company, I want to clarify that this is a science fiction essay that may or may not be the truth or the real representation of the facts. Do not make any decisions or judgments based on this post or anything else in this blog.  The previous reports on this story were posted on other sites, so I cannot be responsible for their content. Here we go:

R**z actually lost the auction to a liquidation company. It was a very close loss. However, the bankruptcy judge felt that R**z's proposal was a better long term solution that didn't cut jobs, so the judge awarded the company back to him. N***n is not a partner. N***n temporarily bought back all of their merchandise to allow R**z to have more cash to buy the company. After N***n takes inventory, it will be bought back by R**z, and redistributed in a better fashion.

The above story (like everything else on this site) was based on a dream I had last night and since I have nothing else to do after the official Nikon announcement, I decided to post it.

“since I have nothing else to do after the official Nikon announcement” this is so funny~~ lolx

    • Seriously, I usually take a break after an official announcement. This time is interesting because there is another one coming up next week (Aug 4th).

  • RobertD

…sounds reasonable to assume you are correct.

  • low

NRadmin…dont you have another rumor to cover on whats happening in the next nikon announcement coming in a few weeks?

    • I would say Coolpix cameras. One of them is a p&s with a build in projector. The other one may be a P6000 replacement. I am not 99% sure yet, but I think the projector thing is very real. I expect to know more over the weekend.

How does this latest release fit in with the product ‘roadmap’ that was ‘leaked’ out a few weeks ago? Does it fit in or has that roadmap been de-bunked now?

        • Well, we did not get the weird lens that was listed on the roadmap with the D300s announcement. Is this enough to debunk that rumor? Maybe – can’t tell yet. Let’s wait for the next big announcement and then we can finally decide.

          • David

The roadmap was already confirmed as bogus, wasn’t it?

          • Stephen

Actually, it was claimed to be a fake by someone who was part of the organization that made and published it. So it is not known if it is fake or a cover up. You decide.

  • Kozłowski Artur

Was the word ASS-ay ment as a joke? Should be E-ssay, no?

    • I did it on purpose, maybe I should change it back…

    • “assay” would work too:
      assay: verb (used with object)
      1. to examine or analyze: to assay a situation; to assay an event.
      2. Metallurgy. to analyze (an ore, alloy, etc.) in order to determine the quantity of gold, silver, or other metal in it.
      3. Pharmacology. to subject (a drug) to an analysis for the determination of its potency or composition.
      4. to judge the quality of; assess; evaluate: to assay someone’s efforts.
      5. to try or test; put to trial: to assay one’s strength; to assay one’s debating abilities.
      6. to attempt; try; essay: to assay a dance step.
      –verb (used without object)
      7. to contain, as shown by analysis, a certain proportion of usually precious metal.
      8. Metallurgy. determination of the amount of metal, esp. gold or silver, in an ore, alloy, etc.
      9. a substance undergoing analysis or trial.
      10. a detailed report of the findings in assaying a substance.
      11. Archaic. examination; trial; attempt; essay.

  • In all your current free time, please see what you can dig up about more lenses for this year. My main interest is updates/replacements to the 80-400, 300 F4, and or a 400 in the F4-F5.6 range.

    • Trust me, if I get something – I will post it, but I think the rest of the announcements for this year will be full frame (except the Coolpix cameras next week).

      • Since all the lenses I mentioned are for full frame (and great on DX), I will continue to hope that with (hopefully) coming FX announcements later this year, some of these lenses will come at that time as well!

  • NikoDoby

I think your dreams should be about wet Nikon t-shirt contest and girls washing your car in Nikon bikini’s. It’ll get you into less trouble 8^)

    • That sounds like a good idea for a photoshoot… Hmmm… wonder if Nikon Tokyo would spring for some Nikon bikinis if I asked them. 😀

      • NikoDoby

Hey Toast, we can ask if they’ll let us be the NDA photographers for the D700Xs. Let’s see if they go for our pitch:

“You see Mr Kariya-san, you don’t want pirates chasing paper airplanes selling your cameras. No…No you don’t. You want girls in Nikon bikini’s using the D700Xs to ah, show off it’s low light abilities. Ya that’s it!”

*Niko and Toast proceed to give each other high-fives as Kariya-san activates the secret security button under his desk*

  • jbl

Can you dream about the D700x (or hopefully the D700s) next?

  • Rlanthier

I ‘d love for my dream of a redone 200/ micro N AFS VR to be reality!

  • Zoetmb

The part of this dream that doesn’t make sense is that why would Nikon “buy back” stock that it wasn’t paid for in the first place (unless it was able to buy it back at substantial discount)? Secondly, a lot of that stock has to be equipment that has or will soon be discontinued. That’s not to say it’s worth nothing, but it’s going to retail for very close to wholesale, since Nikon margins to retailers isn’t too good in the first place (and according to Hogan, decreasing.)

Well..on to the Coolpix announcements. Wouldn’t it be something if Nikon surprised us with something really cool? (But I doubt it.)

    • NikoDoby

      A Coolpix with a built-in projector isn’t cool ?!

  • northy

with the 70-200 at $2400, i wonder if Nikon will get a clue and release a 70-200 f/4, with superior optics to the current 70-200, it would sell like mad, IMO.

    • Second second second!!!
