It has a built-in battery that is charged via the USB line and can play for 3-4 hours.

I bought one two, was only 25$ including shipping from Hongkong.
Item comes i a nice box. It can play Music from Linein 3,5mm, MP3 from optional MicroSD and FM radio. For FM radio you have to connect the included USB cable (seems to be the antenna). USB cable is for charging the internal LiIon accu only, no access to inserted SD card. The same cable is used as linein. An additional 3,5mm output for headphones is available.
The handling is ok but you need the manual first. 2 buttons are used for several actions according to mode: skip forward and reverse in MP3 mode, auto tuning in FM mode and volume (keep button press longer) all on the same 2 buttons.
Sound quality of coarse not perfect but quite good for the small sized speaker. I could not check battery lifetime as it is still running on first charge >4h.
Nice gadget, fits into every camera bag.

This is pretty neato, but couldn’t they have chosen a cooler lens to replicate?

    • Posted October 25, 2011 at 9:17 pm | Permalink

      Agreed- I’d much rather have the 35mm f/1.8 or 85mm f/1.4D.

Since they couldn’t continue to make lenses in Thailand since the flooding…. *shrug* Next best thing?

No on the 85, then I’d probably mix it up with my real 85 1.4D and take the wrong one on a trip or something… ;)

I agree, who actually “wants” a 55-200 AF-S? Personally, I think the 14-24 F2.8 would make a superb speaker since you could jam a much larger driver in that thing. Then again, I’d probably mix that up with my real one too…

Good idea, but I’d much rather have seen a 24-70 or 70-200 speaker. Perhaps even a prime like a 35, 50 or 85mm. Or, I could’ve used them as standalone surround sound speakers in my living room if they were 400mm f/2.8s!

By the way, Peter, why do you say it’s the 55-200 when there’s a picture of an 18-135?

    • Paul
      Posted October 25, 2011 at 11:45 pm | Permalink

      I vote fake.
That region of the D800 will very likely not change from the D700 anyways so it makes for an easy photoshop to replace 7 with 8.

    • EvanK
      Posted October 26, 2011 at 12:05 am | Permalink

I’m going to say fake, mainly because it looks exactly like the D700. After comparing similar photos of this and a D700, I can’t see a single difference between them aside from the logo.

I’m guessing that this is another photoshopped D700 product photo. Looking at the “8″ on the D800 logo, it appears a little off.

    • DX2FX
      Posted October 26, 2011 at 12:25 am | Permalink

I vote fake. But I would say the new D800 should have very minor but noticeable exterior design changes/ differences from that of D700. The fact that this picture doesn’t show any means it is just a photoshoped D700.

    • Iris Chrome
      Posted October 26, 2011 at 12:47 am | Permalink

It seems more like a photo from an ad campaign than a “leaked” photo. For that reason I’ll say fake.
