I was hoping for NX3. ;-) Maybe Aperture 3 tomorrow at Steve’s World instead. Is Aperture 2 really over 2 years old now?

Really? It’s fine on mine so far, what video card setting are you using?

      • Posted January 26, 2010 at 1:43 pm | Permalink

How do you mean in terms of video settings?

        • Posted January 26, 2010 at 1:53 pm | Permalink

Are you using one of the unibody Macbooks with the selectable video cards? I don’t know that it actually makes a difference beyond battery life, but I always select “Higher Performance” when I’m working with NX or LR.

Well, this has completely killed ViewNX on my Windows 7 machine. After upgrading it doesnt even launch. That’s just about what I have come to expect from Nikon, without doubt one of the worst companies for software, and its not even a complex program.

Ok, so after reinstalling 1.5.0 and then 1.5.2 again, its now working, and finally the green colour cast has been fixed and my photos no longer look like they were taken in The Matrix :-)
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64 BTW

Anyway ViewNX and Capture NX isn`t very ergonomic and easy to handle

    • Posted January 26, 2010 at 4:18 pm | Permalink

No, they aren’t, but as much as I love LR, the image quality isn’t what you get from the NX apps. I wish that Nikon would look at the UIs of their competition, or (and I know this is like asking for a bazillion, kajillion dollars) stop encrypting the data in their RAW files so that other applications like LR can correctly convert them.

Try LR3 (beta) and change the camera profile.. tada!!!!!

I have tried everything, done a complete software update, rebooted etc and still doesn’t work without crashing immediately on opening it.

    Sigh!!!!

I have it running now, but only when I open it in Rosetta mode :(

Crashes for me too unless I run it in Rosetta mode.

I had the old ViewNX installed which partially worked with Rosetta enabled, then upgraded to 1.5.2 and when it crashed mid usage I noticed Rosetta was still ticked, so disabled it and now it crashes every time I attempt to launch it.

    Works as advertised,
    same old crappy app.
They must have one programmer working on nikon apps.. bc they consistently suck for mac :D
    But at least my colors are ok now lol;;
(Why the hell does it bloat the nef file when I make changes? I don’t think NX does that..)

I had problems and problems with the previous version of ViewNX. Finally 1.5.2 was release yesterday. I un-installed the the previous version of ViewNX first, reboot, and then install 1.5.2. Everything works wonderful so far. No problem running at 10.6.2 on a Intel Core 2 Duo iMac.

Solved my problem. Uninstalled, re-installed 1.4.0 and ran it once with Rosetta disabled in Info, reinstalled 1.5.2 and ran, all good!
