Need help from Sweden (updated)

Update:
Thanks for all the translations - the only hint in the interview was about a possible AF-S 50mm f/1.8:

"I transcribed the interview and it is mostly about the new 50 mm 1.4 and DSLR in general.
The reporter asks how come there is no 50 mm 1.8 since the 1.4 is so much more expensive. Johan, the Nikon guy then replied: Good question, but as we say, we have not stopped making products, we will have to see what tomorrow brings.
Then some talk about market-share on compact and DSLR and finally some questions about how the market has reacted to the D90 and if there will be more DSLR with film capabilities in the future.
As Mattias says: Just a hint about a 50 mm 1.8 AFS is what I can get out of the interview."
I've said it many times before - this blog is a collaborative effort from Nikon fans around the world. Today I need some help from our audience in Sweden.
Here is a Photokina interview with Nikon regarding the new Nikon AF-S 50mm f/1.4G lens:

I need some translation please. I have a feeling that this interview may contain some hints about future Nikon products (specifically lenses). You will ask why? I watched the Leica interview from the same series (in English) and they did talk about upcoming Leica products. I could be wrong - unfortunately Google does not provide video translation yet.
Thanks!

He says that he is embarrassed and that this is the only new lens being released in the FX/DX format for Nikon. He again apologizes and says that his management team in Japan has recently gotten a case of penis envy over Canon. He is confused about this because as far as he knows, all Asian men have small penises. He then goes on to say that because of this problem with Nikon and Penis envy, the new MX format will be introduced sometime in 2009.

  • Joe’s bf

Are you sure it is THEM who is envious of penises? I never head a dude talk so much about penises in my life.

  • jan b

Nothing new in this interview. Only smalltalk about the new 50 1,4 and some coolpix bestseller.

  • Mattias

The only thing he hints at lens-wise is a 50mm AF-S f/1.8. Other than that he doesn’t seem to be very knowledgeable about the products. Probably just a marketing dweeb.

  • Daniel

He’s positive about the sales figures, despite the economic climate in the world. Rangefinder increase 4% DSLR increase 58%.
But no, no real hints about future products, except the 1.8 hints then.

  • cameron

wow! are you saying we’re going to have a spy camera that can take pictures of men’s penises through the clothes?

  • kaki

    joe,
i think, you are an asian man. otherwise, how do you know they have small things.

  • cameron

    let’s see here…….

bart simpson in “simpsons, the movie” have tiny yellow penis

ling-ling in “drawn together” ((season 2)) is a pimp and tortured xavier ((the gay video game character)), obviously, ling-ling is asian and got a big penis

im not sure about pikachu from pokemon, either…

  • jonas

On a possible new 50mm 1.8: “We’ve not siezed to make new products.. so we’ll see what the future holds”

  • AsiansAreHot

I dunno, lets be real. I know a Japanese guy who is 10 inches. And was way too big around. Also, my friend also dated some Koreans who were bigger than normal. I think the stereotypes are based on when people lived during times of war and ate mostly just rice and grains. Anyone living in California these days knows that this latest generation of Asian Americans, at least, are getting TALL. The number of 6 foot tall Korean guys, in particular, around my area, and like 5 foot 10 Korean girls is a lot these days! Seems like all that was needed was a more diverse diet. Us girls should give Asian men more of a chance. They are the same as all guys, and usually have better manners/family values, too, which is a plus.

  • Erik

He also says that *if* they release an AF-S 50mm 1.8 it would probably (surprise) come out cheaper than the AF-S 50mm 1.4…

  • Samuel

I transcribed the interview and it is mostly about the new 50 mm 1.4 and DSLR in general.

The reporter asks how come there is no 50 mm 1.8 since the 1.4 is so much more expensive. Johan, the Nikon guy then replys: “Good question, but as we say, we have not stopped making pruducts, we will have to see what tomorrow brings.

Then some talk about market-share on compact and DSLR and finally some questions about how the market has reacted to the D90 and if there will be more DSLR with film capabilities in the future.

As Mattias says: Just a hint about a 50 mm 1.8 AFS is what I can get out of the interview.

  • Metaphox

cant imagine an 1.8 more expensive than an f1.4…

  • Martin

Not even a hint about a AF-S 50mm 1.8 … The reporter mentioned it and apparently the Nikon-guy neither affirmed nor denied it. Or did he? So this is not significant in any way.

I mean, it seems to be logical to assume there will be a AF-S 50mm 1.8 eventually. Like there will be a AF-S 85mm 1.8 at some point in the future. I think it’s just a matter of time before Nikon will migrate every focal length to a AF-S G-type mount. That’s old news, so to speak.

Could you please post the complete transcript? I think it’d be interesting.

  • Blog Admin

Thanks for all the translations – I will update the post.

  • Blog Admin

Joe, let’s keep a civilized dialog please.

  • Blog Admin

Just curious – what did he say about the future of film SLR? There will be more to come? Nikon F7?

  • cameron

the F7 were out for a long time but not available to the public market because almost everybody went digital. my brother hardly uses it because its bulky

  • Blog Admin

Cameron – now you have the opportunity to prove yourself and all the “rumors” you have been posting here: ask you brother to take a picture of his F7 (hi-res please) and send it over. I will then publicly announce you to be one of my best sources. Otherwise I will have to ask everyone to ignore you. Fair deal?

You can submit images and emails anonymously – the links are on the lower left bar of the blog.
    We are all waiting….
  • Kuri

I think Cameron has been sniffing a tad too much glue tonight :P

His brother hardly uses it because it is quite difficult to take good pictures with a camera that doesn’t exist…
Oh.. does his ‘brother’ even exist??

  • http://dpanswers.com/ Gisle Hannemyr

There is nothing in the interview about film. He first talks about the new 50 mm f/1.4 AF-S. When asked about an new 50 mm f/1.8 AF-S he just says “nobody knows”. He is then asked if the current economic downturn is impacting Nikon sales, and he answers that there is still an increase in sales (4 % for compacts, 58 % for DSLRs). He then says that the Coolpix S210 is a big seller based upon its features combined with its low price. That’s all. No real rumours.

  • zoso

Gisele is right, there are no hints at all about AF-S 50/f1.8 in that interview.

  • MarkDphotoguy

Cameron is clearly a troll and the best thing to do with trolls is to simply ignore them.
