Martin Rousseau shares some of his Kyoto cherry blossom photos that were on display at the Nikon Plaza in Tokyo Shinjuku:

The ancient capital and iconic symbol of Japan Kyoto, together with Venice and Paris, are certainly some of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Martin Rousseau (website, flickr), a French national based in Japan for the past 18 years, had the great chance to work as a photographer to promote Kyoto around the world. He shot every angle of the city, shrines and various festivals.

→ I received some reports from readers having issues with 3rd party batteries and lenses used with the Nikon D500 camera:

“My Nikon D500 will not recognize 3rd party batteries (e.g. Hahnel) which my D810 accepts quite happily.”

“It seems the new D500 cannot use 3rd party batteries. Tested my new D500 with 3rd party/oem battery and the camera flashes the battery bar a few times then shuts off. Battery was full and verified working with other cameras. This behavior was tested on two different D500 cameras. Original batteries worked fine.”

New Zeiss lens teaser #enterZEISS

Zeiss has a new teaser on their Facebook page for three new lenses. At least one of them looks like a DSLR lens – maybe this will be the previously rumored Zeiss Milvus 135mm f/2 Apo Sonnar. The official announcement will be next week. Stay tuned for more details.

Last year Zeiss discontinued their DSLR lenses and replace them with the new Milvus line.

Update – false alarm, Zeiss posted this on Facebook:

We’re sorry but #enterZEISS is not about new lenses. It will be great nonetheless. So please stay tuned for next week!
