Nikkor Z mirrorless lens roadmap

We should soon be getting an updated Nikkor Z mirrorless lens roadmap – the current version has not been updated at least since January and it shows only 3 specific lenses for 2020 with 4 empty slots.

On their dedicated mirrorless lens site, Nikon USA acts as the Z-Noct-Nikkor 58mm f/0.95 lens is already officially announced – it’s present in the Z lens group picture and it’s hyperlinked in the Nikkon Z roadmap similar to all already available lenses (see above screenshot) but it is still marked as “coming soon”:

Only 1000 Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR lenses are produced every month

The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR lens has been out of stock since it was announced in August 2018 (I am lucky to have one). Nikon Japan already issued several apologizes on the lens shortage. A few months ago Amazon removed the order option for the Nikkor 500mm f/5.6E and the lens no longer appears in Amazon’s search results. Amazon also canceled all existing pre-orders (for that reason I strongly suggest ordering from Adorama and B&H).

A few months ago I posted some possible explanation on why the lens is hard to find. A reader recently sent me a screenshot from the German NPS website that states the monthly production capacity of the 500mm f/5.6 lens is limited to approximately 1000 lenses:

I think the Nikon Df camera will be discontinued next

The Nikon Df is now almost €900 off at the official Nikon France store. The Df is no longer available for sale at Amazon France and Amazon Germany.

Similar is the situation in the UK – only used Nikon Df cameras are listed at WEX Photo, Park Camera and Amazon UK.

Surprisingly, in the US the Nikon Df is still listed for $2,746.95 at Adorama and B&H, but I expect that to change soon  – this price in 2019 is a joke ($1,000 more than the Nikon Z6).

Update – the Nikon Df price drop is now also active in the UK:

World Photography Day Nikon teaser: new Nikon Z6 “Ultimate Filmmaker’s Kit” (for Indian market only?)

Last week I posted a teaser from Nikon India about “something exciting for videographers and filmmakers” coming today (World Photography Day). My guess was correct – Nikon India introduced the “Ultimate Filmmaker’s Kit”. The price of ₹3,82,832 (around $5,300) should offer 24% savings. The new kit seems to be available only in India (see the US version at AdoramaB&H Photo and Amazon).

The new kit includes the following products:
