The almost 4 years old Nikon D850 DSLR camera is currently sold out at all three major US retailers: Adorama, B&H Photo, and Amazon. Nikon recently introduced a new $500 discount on the D850 and the camera sold out in a week! The D850 is also out of stock in Calumet Germany, but other European stores (Park Cameras, WEX) have it in stock.
Nikon recently mentioned in an interview that their Nikon’s DSLR volume sales are higher than mirrorless sales.
Nikon is expected/rumored to announce a D850 replacement in early 2021.
Today the Chinese company Pergear released a new 12mm f/2 manual focus APS-C mirrorless lens for Nikon Z-Mount priced at $165:
Note that this is an APS-C lens that will work on the Nikon Z50 camera or with the Z full-frame cameras in crop mode.
Pergear already has two other APS-C lenses for Nikon Z-mount: 7.5mm f/2.8 fisheye and 35mm f/1.2.

Nikon will cut 2,000 employees in the non-Japanese markets by March 2022, according to this Nikkei article (translation) – this represents about 20% of the total overseas workforce. Nikon is going to transfer the production of camera bodies from Miyagi, Japan, to Thailand. The article also says that Nikon is going to release three new mirrorless cameras in the latter half of the current fiscal year. I’m not sure what “3 new mirrorless cameras” means. If it includes the new Z7 II and the Z6 II models, we will see only one more new model in the next 5 months (the current fiscal year ends in March 2021). This actually matches perfectly my previous reports – the next camera could the rumored entry-level APS-C Z mirrorless.
