New data: total number of Canon, Sony, and Nikon cameras produced in 2020


The Japanese Sankeibiz (translated) published some new data on the total number of cameras produced in 2020:

  • According to the Japanese research firm Techno System, Sony produced 1.15 million mirrorless cameras in 2020, Canon is second with 1.05 million cameras, followed by Nikon with 250,000 cameras (out of a total of 3.26 million mirrorless cameras produced in 2020)
  • Out of a total of 2.39 million DSLR cameras produced in 2020, Canon had 1.71 million and Nikon had 650,000.

New Nikon EN-EL18d battery registered in Russia


If you remember my rumored Nikon Z9 mirrorless camera specifications, I did mention that there will be a new Nikon EN-EL18x battery. Nokishita just reported that Nikon recently registered a new, not-yet-released, EN-EL18d battery in Russia and my guess is that this will be the battery used in the upcoming Z9 professional mirrorless camera.
