I have been reporting that the Nikon NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S lens will be announced soon, possibly before the 2022 CP+ show in Japan (February 22-27).
The second hint that the 800mm Z lens is coming soon is the recent rumor about Canon announcing their RF 800mm f/5.6 L IS USM mirrorless lens.
The third hint is that B&H Photo already listed the Nikon NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S lens on their website:

Nikon released version 1.1.0 of their NX Field remote shooting system. The new version adds support for the Nikon Z6, Z7, Z6II, and Z7II cameras. Support for the new Z9 will be added later. Additional information:

The reference manual for the new Nikkor Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S mirrorless lens is already available online (direct link to PDF file).
The lens is expected to start shipping on February 18th. Nikon Japan already issued a notice warning that the wait time for this lens could be over 6 months because of the high number of pre-orders.
