Three new third-party lenses for Nikon Z-mount from TTartisan, Kipon, and Meike


On July 15 TTArtisan will announce a new 50mm f/2 full-frame manual focus mirrorless lens for Nikon Z-mount (price: $69, weight: 200g).


Kipon announced a new and improved 2022 version of the IBERIT 35mm f/2.4 lens for Nikon Z-mount (Iberit lenses are sold at AdoramaAmazon, and B&H Photo).


Meike continues aggressively to release new lenses – today we have a new 10mm f/2.0 wide-angle manual focus APS-C lens for Nikon Z mount.

Nikon temporary suspended orders for the NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S and NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S lenses:

“Nikon has received an unexpectedly large number of orders for the NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S and the NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3VR S lenses. To better assist our customers and retailer partners, we will temporarily suspend taking new orders of these two lenses as we work to fulfill our current backorders. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this delay may cause customers eagerly awaiting these products. Please know we are doing all we can to deliver these products as soon as possible, and we ask for your understanding and patience in this matter.”

The official press release should be out in Japan in the next few hours.

Report: Nikon to stop making DSLR cameras, withdraws from SLR development after 60 years of history




Today Nikkei reported that Nikon will stop making DSLR cameras and withdraws from SLR cameras development after 60 years of history. Nikon quickly came out with a press release calling the report “speculation” and denying the rumors:

“There was a media article regarding Nikon’s withdrawal of SLR development. This media article is only speculation and Nikon has made no announcement in this regards. Nikon is continuing the production, sales and service of digital SLR. Nikon appreciate your continuous support.” (Nikon)

I personally believe Nikkei’s report becuase I have not heard a reliable F-mount rumor for a very long time.

Nikkor F-mount lenses focus much faster on the Nikon Z9 compared to the Z6II


Long-time NR contributor Dariusz Breś (see his previous posts) did a quick autofocus speed test of the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/2.8G ED VR II lens for F-mount attached via the FTZ adapter to the Nikon Z6 II and then to the Nikon Z9 cameras. The result is visually obvious – the Nikon Z9 focuses significantly faster compared to the Z6 II. Similar results were observed also with other lenses:
