Interesting D3x analysis

This confirms the information we have been receiving lately – Nikon D3x by the end of the year.

Rumors received via email

1. The Nikon P6000 is real – coming from a Nikon dealer in Asia (sorry, cannot tell you which country).

2. According to several sources, Nikon will not announce any new DSLR cameras for the Olympics. Photokina in September should bring us the new D3x, D90 and an updated 70-200 f/2.8 (with VRII?). No word on primes or replacement for Nikon D300 yet (I don’t consider the D700 as a replacement of the D300 – I think D700 creates a new class by itself, otherwise Nikon would have called it D400. If they skipped all those numbers, they probably plan to release something in between).
3. B&H have listed the lens in the Nikon D700 combo as Nikkor 24-120mm VR II Lens. There is no such VR II lens. A typo? Probably (thanks GT).

Nikon D800 again?

Nikon D800 again? The 8 looks pretty good. Another photoshop job?

This D800 looks quite different than the previous one. Is that a crystal ball?

It is also interesting that 37% (104 votes) think that the D900 is a plausible rumor.

Thom Hogan: Nikon D900?

What is Thom Hogan talking about? D900 instead of D3x? See his post on dpreview:

I’m going to go a different direction: no D3x. Yes, a 24mp FX body, but it’ll be the D900. This allows them to use the Sony sensor and bring it downscale to compete with the A900/5DII.

I say this rumor is busted.

Engadget.com: “24.39 megapixel D3X expected within the next 12 months”

As Engadget.com reported the Nikon D700 news today, they added a small hint at the end of the article:

“24.39 megapixel D3X expected within the next 12 months”

I guess they are very conservative in their estimation.

Here is the link.
