A slow news day, I hope you enjoy this video:
Update: few more Nikon torture videos:
Today DxOMark published their test results for the Nikon D5100 DSLR camera. First, a comparison with the D7000 and D300s:
Today TIPA announced their 2011 awards for best photographic and imaging products. Nikon D7000 is the Best Advanced DSLR and the Coolpix P300 is Best General Camera. Canon has three camera awards (plus a printer), Olympus and Panasonic got two camera awards each.
Here is a list of all TIPA awarded Nikon products from the past 20 years:
I came across an old issue of Modern Photography from December of 1986. With the latest price increases, here is a nostalgic flashback of Nikon prices from 25 years ago:
More after the break:
Nikon has scheduled another product announcement. I still have not received a confirmation on the date, but it may happen as early as April 27th, 2011 (next Wednesday).
One of the new products to be announced will be the already leaked Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G lens. I doubt that this is going to be the only new product. Nikon just announced the Nikon D5100 DSLR camera on April 5th and I don’t think they will release just one lens three weeks later. On the other hand, it’s too early for the D700 replacement to be out and I doubt they will announce a FX lens with another DX body (D400 for example).
A correction to my previous Nikon D5100 post: today I played some more with the video functionality of the Nikon D5100 and you can set the aperture manually for video recording. The trick is that you have to do it before you turn on LiveView when in aperture priority, otherwise the aperture selection will be overwritten. It would be nice if Nikon had a chapter on this in their product manual.
Here is a quick video example of the Nikon D5100 at f/1.4 and f/16:
Sorry about the misinformation.
