More Nikon Zf camera rumors

It seems that Nikon did have an event with Nikon Pro dealers in Europe on August 2nd to present the new Zf camera according to this post on dpreview (see my post here):

“The intro of the Zf was done on August 2nd at pro Nikon dealers this week. They had to sign a NDA but some things are clear now:

  • will be shipped this year
  • will be available, as body and combo with lens: no new lens will be launched however for this camera.
  • not a stacked sensor: 25-ish Mpxl: it will be a NEW sensor, so no Z6ii sensor.
  • the body feels extremely well in the hand and the quality impression is top-notch, much better than Zfc”

This makes sense – we had a similar situation with the Z8 a few months ago. When I receive a specific date for a new product presentation, I often do not know if this is a close door event or the official announcement to the public.

Here are the latest/updated rumored Nikon Zf camera specifications – the only update is actually the sensor, everything else was already reported before:

Some observations on the current Nikon promotions in Japan

Some observations on the current Nikon promotions in Japan by a reader:

Just like to provide some information on some recent sales movements in Japan, which might be indicative of what to expect next. Back in March I mentioned that Nikon does not release a successor model when a cashback campaign is active, and expected the Z8 to come before the Z6III/Z7III models. Right now Nikon is running another campaign to move practically all their inventory. All current bodies and lenses (except for the newer releases, Z 24-120 and super teles) are part of the campaign now – you can have a look at the list here:

Map Camera (a Nikon authorized dealer) just announced a significant price cut on three different models:

  • Nikon Z6 with 24-70mm f/4 lens kit
  • Nikon Z5 body
  • Nikon Z50 body

Here is an excerpt from the newsletter – the Z6 and Z5 have been sold out already:

Nikon announcement next week, not about new products

Nikon is rumored to have an announcement next week, but as far as I can tell it will not be about new products. Maybe a new venture or acquisition? I really do not know. The Nikon Zf should be announced later (not expected next week).

Update – here is the announcement (service notice):

Here it is: Nikon Z8 “strap eyelet issue” recall
