Confirmed: massive Nikon Nikkor 135mm f/1.8 Plena lens without defocus control coming this week

I can now confirm that on September 27th Nikon will announce a new Nikon Nikkor 135mm f/1.8 Plena lens without defocus control. Here is what to expect:

  • 16 elements in 14 groups (massive lens!)
  • No defocus control like on the old 135mm and 105mm DC lenses
  • Filter size: 82mm
  • The new Plena lens will be optimized for smooth bokeh and lack of (or minimized) vignetting

This is all I have for now. Keep in mind that we may just see a development announcement this week and no pricing/pre-order information for the new Plena lens.
