Nikon Plena lens rumors (135mm f/1.8 possibly with defocus control?)


I will not bother you with meaningless paragraphs explaining the meaning of the word Plena – we have plenty of clickbait websites that will just do that. Here are a few hints from the video:

  • Very large lens
  • Prime lens
  • Appears to be a portrait lens
  • Bubble bokeh
  • The Plena engraving is similar to the Noct

Nikon is expected to announce two new lenses this year that are still listed on their latest lens roadmap:


A while back we also had some rumors for Nikon coming up with a new lens with defocus control similar to the Nikon AF DC Nikkor 135mm f/2.0D lens for F-mount:


I will jump straight to the rumors – now, I have to be careful when reporting rumors, because the Rumors Police will get me again:) I think Plena will be a new 135mm f/1.8 lens, possibly with defocus control (as many of you already suggested in the comments section of the previous post). I am still waiting on a confirmation and will keep you updated. Stay tuned!

Oh yes, another rumor – it will be very expensive (Plena’expensive):
