CIPA’s August report is out


CIPA (Camera & Imaging Products Association in Japan) published their August report. For the calendar year to date, the numbers are similar to last month and the month before in terms of year over year percentages, except that mirrorless shipped value is up another 2%. (orange: 2019, black: 2018, blue: 2017, click for larger view):

Calendar year to date:

  • DSLR Units  -36%
  • DSLR Shipped Value -44%
  • Mirrorless Units -13%
  • Mirrorless Shipped Value +6%
  • Compact Units -20%
  • Compact Shipped Value -15%
  • Lenses for smaller than 35mm Units –31%
  • Lenses for smaller than 35mm Shipped Value -29%
  • Lenses for 35mm and larger Units -14%
  • Lenses for 35mm and larger Shipped Value -2%
  • Mirrorless unit share (of Mirrorless + DSLR) 43.9%
  • Mirrorless Shipped Value share 59.1%
