Breaking: first Nikon D850 press photos leaked

I believe the above two pictures are real press photos of the upcoming full frame Nikon D850 DSLR camera. You can clearly see the same shape of the camera pentaprism shown in the official teaser. I also started receiving more D850 specifications - I will post them online soon.

The “lever thing” closes the (internal) viewfinder blind.

      That’s on the left.

Where’d the dedicated meter mode dial go? Just playing with my D800 and noticed if no ae-l/ae-f button then there’s no meter dial. I love my meter mode dial.
Looking at my gf’s D5300 and it has an info button there. I just don’t see why there isn’t something there for D850.

Maybe that’s what the button on the viewfinder does, toggle metering modes.

Maybe on the left side buttons, like the D7500 but you can always re-assign it to a function button and use your right hand to change without moving your eyer from the viewfinder. But it will be quite different from the convenient layout of the D700 shown here (I think).

I like the fight here about the EVF.
Thom Hogan a while ago wrote a long note titled “Why I like Nikon” in which he also talked about the EVF.
Where are you Thom? Please come over here to make peace 🙂

Thom has been on holiday, back soon.

    No pop-up flash?

      Thank Gawd.

Met a few teasers but Nikon is up there!

  • As most of you know I am a Nikon Pro using three Nikon D800/800e bodies for the likes of ELLE, Harper’s BAZAR, VOGUE etc. And what I really want to see in the new Nikon is a hybrid EVF and classic DSLR configuration, as I find it nearly impossible to focus using fast manual lenses. AF is great, but through the lens focus peaking would be a dream.

    Best Wishes

      Nice work

It looks to me that the focus button is there, but no exposure lock button. If that’s correct it’s a big omission.

As far as I can tell, it looks exactly like the D500, which is a very very good thing if true. To get an FX pro body with essentially identical ergonomics to the proven-excellent DX D500 is a great move.
