  • There are readers in OTHER countries you know, what about considering them when posting/finding offers

    • doge

      lol. no.

    • Allan

Careful, Jeremy. You’re exposing yourself to discovering how Americans view the rest of the world. (What do you think about American tourists in your country?)

      🙂

      • nwcs

Actually, this malady affects all pretty uniformly.

      • I will say one thing about Americans, their MANNERS and SERVICE are second to none, when I have bought from the USA I have always been treated with utter politeness

    • Ric of The LBC

so, the admin is not to post USA only deals?

      getting into snowflake territory.

    • Chewbacca

I’ll help you out. I’ll sell you my D700 for a good deal.

    • Andrew

I think that the postings on deals are variable. Some deals are posted as a service to Nikon Rumors readers so that they are informed as not to miss out on them. And other deals I suppose are exclusively targeted at Nikon Rumors readers though others can also participate in them.

No use at all to purchase from there,at least I believe for me.Why I should pay a huge rate for a lens that has been made over ten years ago, used badly by someone over eight years? That lens is worth as new for $6000,mint used in B&H is for almost half that price, but that mint used in KEH is sold for almost $5000?No,thank you!

  • Pablo And-Jennifer Gabetta

I purchased from them an item that was in bargain condition. B&H would call it good.
That was my experience with them.

  • koenshaku

Not a bad price for the Nikon 70-200 VR II. I just ordered the Tamron 70-200 G2 yesterday. They seemed to get similar results give or take in the reviews.

  • bobgrant

KEH pricing is pretty hilarious. They ARE generous about condition though. They are selling the D5500 for 549.00 just for the body when for 48 bucks more you can have it NEW with two lenses. The 70-200 VRII is all over the place for less money. I sold mine for 1300 in mint shape and glad to see it go. But I guess people feel safe with KEH and that’s what you pay for. I bought a 20-35mm 2.8 from them a few years back. It was a horrible lens that would not focus properly on any body. They took it back, but I ate the shipping. Do they give shutter counts on bodies?

    • Proto

yes, its overpriced at used re-sellers. A thoughtful and direct buy from the owner – from ebay or craiglist – will save a lot more.

      • Victor Collins

I sold one of my D800’s on eBay and the person returned it one week later and had abused the crap out of it. Despite having a photo of the camera before packing it in the box and a photo of it when it gets back eBay did absolutely nothing to help me. I ended up selling it for parts. I sold the other two to KEH and I may not have received top dollar for them but I didn’t lose a wad either. I bought a MF Pentax 645N off of eBay that the guy said was mint. The camera looked very clean when it arrived. I shot two rolls of film and on the third roll the film advance drive stopped working. I sent the seller an email and his response was “Oh it does that from time to time, I just load another roll of film an keep shooting”. He said I guess I should have mentioned that. I sent the information to eBay resolution department and they sent the guy a email saying he had been deceptive but would not force him to refund my money. I have bought a few film lenses from KEH and my experience has been good. The lens has been better than what I expected from the grade. For me eBay has too many risks as a buyer and seller.

        • decentrist

Don’t ever use Ebay for any customer service. Use PayPal resolution center, and you will always prevail as a buyer provided you are reasonable. You have 180 days protection as a buyer with PayPal.

          • Victor Collins

PayPal protects the buyer not the seller. I like PayPal and use it alot for purchases. Selling anything on the internet has it’s risk, sometimes things go without a hitch and other times it’s down right horrible.

            • decentrist

“Despite having a photo of the camera before packing it in the box and a photo of it when it gets back eBay did absolutely nothing to help me.”…that’s what I am replying to

            • Victor Collins

Ok. Sorry I wasn’t very clear in my message. He purchased it using PayPal. PayPal said it was up to eBay resolution department to protect me as a seller and that they protect the buyer. I am agreeing with you.

            • decentrist

Agreed, after extensive use of Ebay, I have concluded they are beyond worthless for customer service.

        • Bob Thane

Yeah, I stick to places like FredMiranda where you can tell if the user has good reputation, or better yet Kijiji/Craigslist where there’s no return if you’re the seller, and if you’re the buyer you can test the gear and talk to the seller in person.

        • bobgrant

The 20-35mm I got from KEH was bad. I had to pay for shipping, waited for the refund and wasted time. Any time you buy used there’s a risk. The problem with KEH is that some of their pricing is insane. Like I said, I can get a NEW D5500 for less than their used one. I now handle most of my camera selling and buying either new or via Craigslist.

          • Victor Collins

You are right about buying used, however I had rather buy from KEH that has a inspection process and grades the item based on specific criteria. Sorry you had a bad experience with them and the scenario you describe with the D5500 does seem pretty insane. I would definitely go with the new one but with Nikon’s QA you maybe taking just as big of a risk as used.

        • I just flat don’t accept returns. I describe the thing to a T and have a 100% rating.

          • Victor Collins

I had no returns on mine and it didn’t help. If the buyer uses PayPal they can return the item. I spent two months trying to get eBay and PayPal to do something and it was a total waste of time. I sent the camera that was returned to Nikon to see if they could repair it and it was going to cost more to fix than it was worth. The mirror had a crack that went three fourth of the way across. It was obvious the person had dropped the camera from a pretty high place. I don’t understand how the person could rationalize sending the camera back after doing that. I guess it takes all kinds. Now I donate my used equipment to local middle of high schools that teach photography or have a yearbook club.

            • Hmmm, that’s sobering. It’s been obvious to me for a long time (I’ve been using eBay since 1999) that the buyer is king and seller is slave on Ebay. Your experience certainly underscores that. Thanks.

            • Victor Collins

If there were more sellers like you on eBay I would buy alot more stuff. Unfortunately you are a minority. Best wishes.

  • Matt Fulghum

Damnit, I bought an AF-D 50/1.4 from them _yesterday_.

    • nwcs

You can always return it. But many have had success just calling them and seeing what they will do.

  • yepits me

    10% is an insult.

    • nwcs

To what? You can always pay full price if you want…

      • yepits me

If you pay full price for anything like camera,s / lenses your a fool.

        10% off ….is an insult.

        • nwcs

Insult to what? I guess while you’re waiting for the mega discounts the rest of us will be using things.

          • yepits me

            Insult to what ,,
            The company offering a measly 10% …
I can buy out of province and save 12%….and negotiate.

            • nwcs

That’s good for you and where you are but how does that apply to KEH?

            • yepits me

              I don’t care about KEH,,
Every thing is negotiable. …Have you tried it.?

            • nwcs

              Except not everything is negotiable.

    • Andrew

      You must be wealthy 😉

Just think about it, 10% off $2,000 is a $200 savings. And I just checked their site and it looks as if you might be able to find some good deals. Just an opinion..

    • ??? I would like 10% of a million

      • yepits me

Well you know that’s not going to happen.
        Talk about off topic..

  • Chewbacca

I think you can get pretty good deals on old film stuff when they have a coupon code from time to time. It pops up occasionally during holidays and it’s better than 10%. I bought an old FE recently for peanuts and it’s been fun to shoot a roll from time to time. I haven’t had a problem with it and it still looks pretty new.
