I wish they had the D800 firmware I’m advancing program there.

    • Yes, it would be good. Also, I believe Nikon could create a firmware based U1 and U2 modes for the D800, D810, D4s etc. It should not be that hard to access those modes the very same way we swap in between M, A, S on those bodies, should it?

Ever since they abandoned Capture NX2, I can’t use “Nikon” and “software” in the same sentence.

    • Oompsy

Such a shame, eh? The colors I get out of NX2, I can’t get out of any other software. Really a much more versatile software than NX-D. Control points aren’t even in the new one. I really don’t get what Nikon is doing with this new software, and why they couldn’t just release an NX3.

      • jimh

They lost NX2 because they never really owned it. It was developed by Nik Software (no connection to the Nikon name) under contract, but Nik retained the rights to the technology. Google eventually bought Nik and apparently ended the relationship with Nikon. Nikon then cut a deal to slap the NX-D name on another existing program called SilkyPix, so they’d still have an editing program to bundle with cameras. Basically a complete disaster from the user’s point of view.

        • Captain Megaton

NX-D is very definitely not a re-badged SilkyPix!

        • From what I have read, nik had only u point rights and not NX2.

        • Thom Hogan

Of course, they don’t really own NX-D, either ;~). It’s based on Silkypix.

        • whisky

i always thought they should have renamed it Nikon SillyPiX. 🙂

  • dosco

yes, downloading D800 ISO increase would have been nice…. : )

  • Thurdsak Sinthana

I have problem with View NX-i. It found error every time “Not responding”

  • scott800

I was hoping for a new system of plug-ins or expanded features. The original leak suggested something like that right?

Isn’t there a firmware download that will turn your D300 into a D400?…

    • AlphaTed

Not sure about a firmware, but there once was a sticker that turns D300 into a D400.

      • dosco

Printable sticker, like that lens hood in another post

  • Joseph

Damn, for a second, I thought it was that rumored firmware download program finally seeing the light of day… Keeping my fingers crossed.

  • AlphaTed

    Downloaded the D7200 manual.
I guess I’ll just read while charging the battery.
    It’ll be fun this weekend.

So much lighter than the D300. I thought the grip will be awfully small, but it’s just right for my fingers.

I want the iso control for the record button and 1 touch 100% zoom for D600. And please nikon, everybody want to fix the back focus issue with speedlight assist for the D800/800E.

    • It’d be nice. It would make my D600 interface a little more usable. But Nikon cripples their firmware on purpose and hasn’t shown any care to improve anything through firmware. It’s sad really.

    • Jack Murdock

We really need focus peaking/live histogram!

  • itolo

Yes.. one more vote for firmware update program.. Nikon D610: 1 click 100% zoom and exposure preview in live view (must have!)

    • jtan163

Hey buddy you want 1 click zoom you’re gonna have to move up and fork out. That’s a 3 minute code change we’re talking there.

  • Jack Murdock

Come on give us that new firmware thing you guys were talking about!

  • Nimloth

OK, that’s nice. But where are the equivalents from Nikon and other producers to Sigma’s terriffic lens dock?

  • AYWY

In the release notes for Capture NX-D 1.2:
“Application may terminate unexpectedly when performing NR”

Well, had it happen once. 🙁

The good news is, it actually feels faster and more responsive.

  • Luis F. Vidal

I’m willing to pay a reasonable price for a firmware that includes the record button assign. Don’t hesitate Nikon, take my money 🙂
