Beware! That’s an aftermarket Battery. I used of their batteries in my d7000 and it started getting really hot! The grip is a piece of junk too, the rear command dial stopped working after 2 days of shooting.

Why do they include such junk with an otherwise great camera? They apparently are only out to get business but do not respect how important photography is to people, and a dead battery or broken grip can ruin a shoot. THEY DON’T CARE!

This is a pretty common practice for retailers that accumulate items that don’t sell. They probably have ten pallets full of this junk just taking up space in the warehouse.

I don’t get it. You are being offered freebies (no matter how crappy), yet you complain. Personally I hate B&H because of how they always try to wiggle their way out of honoring their 30-day return policy and how they misrepresent their used gear, but you can’t fault them for offering you something extra for free.

BTW, D5200 is not a “great camera”, it’s just a camera. I know guys who are quite happy with fifty-dollar grips on their D800 and the D5200 is definitely not above that.

you’re right, maybe it’s not a great camera, specially for one in a budget, in this case it’s actually an amazing camera !

bh would sell you a toaster to take pictures… it is one who has to assess the best equipment for the job.

I bought a toaster from them once, really crappy shooting.

Body only not available until the end of March. Lame.

I don’t see much of a market for this camera for now with this price. I would still buy the D7000 over this at the same price and I am sure most would come to the same conclusion.

    • The D7000 is body only at this price so it’s not quite fair.

I’ve been reading that this 5200 has the same focusing issues as the D7000 (same AF system) “used to” (?). Can’t believe Nikon wouldn’t sort that stuff out before releasing a new camera with the same components inside.

I do like the syle of the new D5200, D600 a lot better than the D7000 generation. The only thing missing is CLS control from the built-in flash. The D7200 is going to have to have the newer AF and some other things to justify its price point in the line. Seems likely that the next model will be the D300 replacement. The D5200 will also come down in price a bit later.

Actually I thought there would have been a newer version of the kit lens to go with the higher MP sensor.

I never try the new sensor but I think the kit good enough for 24 mp
