    nice one Peter ๐Ÿ™‚

  • lets then add this page xD

  • Erik Johansson

It’s pretty obvious that nikonrumors is an advertising site for Nikon. There are several examples of how clear it is.

    • Andre

So what if it is, if you can’t absorb a little advertising then perhaps you would be better off viewing another site.

      • obvi

well obviously it’s an advertising site for Nikon. Since they only talk about Nikon related product.

Just like canonrumors is a Canon advertising site.

And engadget is a mac advertising site.

        etc. on and on.

        • I like conspiracy theories ๐Ÿ™‚ just not sure where the “obvious” part comes from. BTW, Elvis is alive…

          • obvi

What i meant by the obvious part is that..

This site is only about Nikon. So even if you are or not being paid by them you are still advertising their brand.

It’s like me walking around with Adidas sneakers and levi jeans.
I’m not being paid by them but i am advertising their brand.

            • Markus

              Yes…and your point is?

6 more and you can participate to the G7 meetings !
BTW, where are the icons ?

    • I removed all default avatars because they started showing up in Google searches, Facebook, etc.

      • T.I.M

I see, is it still possible to have a customised one ? Do I need a picture ?
And how do I uopload it ?

          • T.I.M

o( too much work, I guess I’ll stay invisible.
Still no leak about the 18th ?

            • Suprchunk

If that is too much work, you are in for trouble when you graduate high school.

  • twoomy

NikonRumors is on Google+ but nobody else is. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • John M

I was going to say this exact same thing.

So instead I’ll reply with “Fortunately there is plenty of room over there.”

    • Andre

You might be rather surprised about the actual numbers on there.

Seeing as I wasn’t a huge user of facebook and had a massive list of “friends” ( 36 ) ๐Ÿ˜€ and I grew tired of hearing some of the inane crap that is posted there I simply opened a G+ page and I find it far easier to connect to people with similar interests who want to share ideas.
In a few short months, I seem to have added over 50 people that I consider to be relevant and have gained and given more information in that time than in a couple of years on facebook.

Google + is new but it will grow. Regard it as facebook for people that think. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Great news!

it’s a hundred times better then facebook which is better then myspace.

      • IanZ28

And was myspace ever an argument?

        • IanZ28

yes, I know that I missed the comma.

          • grammartroll

You, also forgot to capitalize the Y in yes.

            • Ren Kockwell

You also began a sentence with, “and.”

  • Sam

Circled. Great to see more people heading over to G+. I must say it’s way better than Facebook for photographers. No more super compressed photos with the red channel pumped up.

  • Dweeb

Sure. Whatever. How about putting an ad in Pop Photo asking where the next generation of pro/prosumer cameras have gone? Not tweaks to the D3s, D700, and D300s. but new cameras. This isn’t 2005. This is the future.

    • BartyL

No, this is right now. The future is the future, and you will never live there.

    Only 2 weeks ๐Ÿ™

  • g+, !?!

Yeah, it’s a conspiracy to sell non existant D800’s. I bet the D800 is ready, but Nikon can’t make it due to component shortages.

  • Viktor

    What hell is google+ ?! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • It is the service Google built that was originally supposed to be called “Google+Me Too”

Since they are basically copying everyone around these days…

  • The invisible man

    YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nikon is announcing Friday 18th four new products including the D800 !!!!!
At “la Citรฉ des sciences et de lโ€™industrie” in Paris !!!!!

(I”ve been there many years ago, it’s an exposition site)
    This is not a 99.99% rumor, it’s 100% certain !

So who will vote for The invisibe man as the new US president next year ?

    This is not a 99.99% rumor, it’s 100% certain !

    • T.I.M

      * one of the 4 products is a DSLR prototype that can change the grip and the rear LCD display.

      • The sceptical Man

What possible use could there be for an INTERCHANGABLE LCD screen?!
I’m widely considered to be an evil genius (muhahahahahaaaa), but I can’t think of a single reason…

        • T.I.M

Me neither, I don’t see the use of an interchangable LCD….we’ll see !

      • borg

I see the light at the end of tunnel! … here we go again …

    • Source? (of course)

Same who told me about the October announcement (the one that was canceled)
I can’t say her name, she could get in troubles.
Well, only 4 days left to wait.

        • Ren Kockwell

Same source that told you there would be 3 sensorsโ€”one for each channel?

    • Cool WHip

That’s it……someone is switching to Canon.

    • SojIrOu

Don’t want to get my hopes up too much but at the same time can’t wait to see what happens on the 18th. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • John Richardson

I hope they announce a new camera strap, it will take our photos to the next level. I can hardly wait!!!

      • SoftonDemand

Yeah it sure does ๐Ÿ™‚ I have a D3X strap around my D5100, I feel like I have been taking pro-like photos already ^___^

    • broxibear

I’ve looked around to see if anything else is happening on the 18th of November, found this event at Nikon Slovenia
      Google Translation:
“Nikon again for photo enthusiasts organize now the most visited traditional photographic event in Slovenia – Nikon at photos. Held on 18 November at the premises of a Viba film in Ljubljana, where you detail photo enthusiasts can learn about the photograph, the work of professional photographers, photo to upgrade their skills in shooting models and scenes, and try different Nikon cameras and equipment. This year, we will particularly focus on getting to know Nikon’s technological innovations – the world’s fastest camera – Nikon first”

    • Brock Flockwell

So will you man up on Friday should you be proven to be wrong (as is likely to be the case)?

  • Cool WHip

Oh that is too funny. I was just going to comment with, “Make a MySpace page while you’re at it.” Sadly, there already is.

  • PixelBrine

I started making D800’s in my garage two weeks ago ( I couldn’t wait). By my calculations I am well ahead of Nikons production schedule. I just tape four 8MP coolpix cameras together in a line so that each one takes a picture of the LCD screen in front of it. The four 8MP cameras add up to the same number of pixels as the “real” Nikon D800.

I will have an announcement after Thanksgiving as to when they can be ordered.

    • PixelBrine

^ the extra 4 MP’s come in the mail. Just send me the images you take with the camera and I will glue 4 million more pixels to them by hand and send them back. Free of charge.

      • BartyL

“…I will glue 4 million more pixels to them by hand…”

That sounds like a lot of work. What I think you should do is this: take a large tray (it will need to be at least 1m x 1m) and drill 4 million holes in the bottom using a 0.5mm drill. Spray it matte black, because everything looks awesome in matte black. Then fill the tray with all the surplus pixels you expect to supply. Some may escape through the holes initially, so put down towels or something. Eventually they will arrange themselves so that no more pass through the holes without further intervention. Then use a spatula to coat the images to be up-res’d with a thin layer of glue. Hold the tray over the images and gently tap the side. With a bit of practice you should be able to get it to release exactly 4 Megapixels per tap.

        You’re welcome.

        • PixelBrine

          • PeterO

Thank you PixelBrine and BartyL. I haven’t laughed this hard since I started following NR. You do know however, that Jabs will be telling you soon how to make it even better ๐Ÿ™‚

            • Ren Kockwell

              PLUS ONE HUNDRED! : )

  • Steph

    He Admin,

The RSS feed is stil broke for NR, are you aware of this problem?

  • adamski

G+ ? Why would you want to be on a digital cemetery?

  • broxibear
    • AnoNemo

Great, except Nikon does not release cameras but crap (V1 and J1). ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • broxibear

        Hi AnoNemo,
I wouldn’t describe the Nikon 1 as crap. I do think they’re pretty ordinary compared to the competition, and considering how long Nikon waited before entering the market I was expecting better.
It’ll be interesting to see what Canon do with their mirrorless, will they simply match Nikon or will they do something different ?

        • AnoNemo

Last weekend I had a chance to give a try to both of those system 1 cameras. I thought I can convince myself to buy one for one of my relatives for Xmas but I just couldn’t. They are both crap.

The “other” brand feels much more comfortable in the hand not to mention the viewfinder etc. (I am not going to name the brand because Jabs would write a book here …. ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

One thing I agree with Nikon about this #1 (or I better call it number 2 because that is how I felt about them after an hour play) that they do not target those who own DSLRs. Simply, I just find these two gnomes a slap in the face … if that’s the direction Nikon wants to take I better start selling my Nikon gear until they have some value. ๐Ÿ˜‰

BTW, if we do not hear anything this week from Nikon basically we can call off the 2011 dreams of an FX camera and go for a winter sleep because we’ll see only Nikon 1 ads until April/May 2012.

          • Ren Kockwell

Come on, AnoNemo, you were never this cynical before! The cameras aren’t bad, they’re just not made for you. Or me. Nikon has forsaken the pro/enthusiast in the short term. Just hope they make money so the D800 gets here.

            • I played with the Nikon 1 for few minutes at the PDN show – it is very responsive. For me personally, the Nikon 1 is better than the PEN and worse than the Panasonic GX1. I do not include APS-C sensor mirrorless in the equation since it is not fair. I will soon publish a comparison between the Nikon 1 and the latest PEN camera.

            • AnoNemo

Then I suggest to Nikon not to dilute the brand image that is associated with quality and pro gear with this system 1 crap. Create a new brand called Crap 1 and Crap 2.

              @NR Admin,

Please include any of the NEXs in your comparison. Look, NEX is exactly the same size so I think it is fair to compare them. Besides, Nikon has to compete with them.

            • The reason I did not include the NEX is because of its bigger sensor – I am sure NEX will deliver better IQ than the Nikon 1. I think comparing it with the PEN is a good choice because their sensors have similar size. PEN cameras exists for few years now – it will be interesting to see how the newcomer stacks against a well established product line.

  • The invisible man

    November 18th

The reason why we don’t hear much about November 18th announcements is maybe because Nikon don’t want people know too much about the new D800.

Nikon probably have few thousands D800 ready for sale in stock but still not enough for a “BIG RELEASE”.

To avoid shortage in a very expected product, the “real” announcement may have been delay until next year when the factory in Tailand will be back in business.

BTW, the front cap of the body is made in the Tai factory, I don’t see Nikon selling his D800 without a front cap….

    • AnoNemo

      The invisible man,

I think Nikon just did an invisible announcement. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Seriously, I no longer believe that Nikon has any new FX cameras ready. I will believe when I see it. Let’s be realistic here, Nikon just switch direction and got into to the swimming pool business. ๐Ÿ™‚ Whatever they have/had that thing already went to Cousteau.

      • Biziclop

Nikon should not only switch direction but they should also switch to Canon.

    • Thom wHO?

TIM If you are trolling us I will see you in… France? ๐Ÿ˜›

Come on Nikon, listen to TIM.

    • @invisible man – you better be right this time, otherwise… I will forward all the hate mail to you ๐Ÿ™‚

      • The invisible man

I don’t care if I’m right or not but if nothing show up Friday that’s bad news for all of us.

I hope Nikon will not give up on FX because I don’t want the D700 or neither the D3s (or the $8000 D3x)

If the Nov 18th announcement is delay again I would be VERY disapointed by Nikon.

I could wait few more months but ONLY if the D800 is announced, I understand the problems Nikon is going through righ now but we are CUSTOMERS and it’s our right to know what’s going on.

Well, let’s hope I’m right for the 18th….

BTW, why Nikon is not cutting the price on the D3x ?
I’m sure many of us would buy it if priced at $5000

        • I hate to brake your hopes, and I am really going to be happy to be wrong on that one but as I said already, there will be no Nikon announcement on November 18th. I will publicly apologize if you are right and I am wrong:)

          • Souvik

Since Nikon any new product until now, I don’t think there will be any significant announcement before January of next year, even that might not happen.

When it comes to new product announcement, Nikon is just plain incompetent. In this respect, Canon is far ahead than Nikon, it allows the consumers to plan and think ahead. Nikon doesn’t offer any of that to its consumers. That is just sad.

            • the last chance is the first week of December – Nikon have made Dec. announcements before

            • Souvik

              @ Admin

Early December announcement makes sense, if Nikon have any hope of capturing the Christmas shopping market.

            • The problem I see is that Nikon has hardly any inventory for the holiday shopping season. Even 3 years old cameras are hard to find. Canon on the other hand has pretty much every model in stock.

      • AnoNemo

No way, you get hate mails? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

        • yes, why do you think I want to keep my privacy – a lot of crazy people out there…

          • AnoNemo

Just forward them to the Invisible Man …. nobody can see him anyway ๐Ÿ™‚

        • btw I have a new post coming online tonight – patents update ๐Ÿ™‚

  • PeterO

I see that Sony has restarted production of the A77/65 and Nex-7 in a different fatory in Thailand and and moved P&S production to China. They know that Christmas is coming. Thanks for the update on the Nov. 18th announcement T.I.M. I’ve cleared my calendar ๐Ÿ™‚

  • AnoNemo

I have an idea, let’s start making up stuff about Nikon’s financials and how they fail to deliver and once Bloomberg and Reuters start writing about it they will come out and announce that they did not make any announcements. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Pete

      Kool. You start.

      • AnoNemo

        Ok here it comes:

Nikon is about to go bankrupt because the swimming pool business is not that profitable.

Also, the Nikon 1 systems come with hidden nasty images of [fill in the blank]

        • Ren Kockwell

Ano, come on. If they gave up on full frame they would have announced it.

          • AnoNemo

That’s the point, Nikon never announces anything but after the fact. For example, they said that there is no need for mirrorless and then we got a mirrorless. I think Nikon gave up on the full frame otherwise by now we would know something.

  • Added.

    Any news about de D900??
