  • Now if they could only get the D3s back in stock. I don’t really need a DX lens.

    • Lion City

D3s is easily available here in Singapore 🙂 I just don’t have the money, lol!

    • This is a symptom of Nikon’s policies of not facilitating transfer of inventories from region to region. As for DX deals, I shoot FX.

  • enesunkie

I’m guessing Nikon is hoping to finally eliminate their D90 and D3000 stock.
The Best Buy’s near me still just have the D90 with no D7000’s coming soon.

    • David W.

You know you can ask them to order them right? The store I work at has D3000, D3100, D5000, D5100, D90, and D7000, haha.

  • Evan K

If only they offered the lenses that I wanted…

  • CanonUser

Then go & read in the canon site. I hope you are not Nikon users, you are a disgrace to our good friends here.

  • Just A Thought

“At least Canon Rumours actually has RUMOURS on the sites.”

Just checked..might you be referring the following NON-rumors posted on his main page:
    Firmware – 5D Mark II 2.0.9
    Blue Crane Giveaway
New Canon Lenses Availability – Updated
    Patent – EF 35 f/1.4L II
    Patent – EF 50 f/1.4
    Patent – EF 300 f/4L IS II
    Patent – EF 24 f/2.8
    Patent – EF 28 f/1.8 DO & Others

oh … found one rumor and one possible migration:
    EF 16-40 f/4L IS [CR1}
1DS Mark IV & 3 Lenses in August?

Wonder where he got the idea about Aug??? Nikon Rumors perhaps??

Instead of bashing this site maybe you should consider thanking the guy who set it up and gives his time to run it.

  • FX DX

I am glad I got my FX lenses early this year when Nikon had $300 and $400 on its f/2.8 and f/4 lenses. Now eagerly waiting for a new FX body. I would buy a D700 if prices were close to pre-Japan disaster, but I just don’t feel comfortable dishing out $2700 for a camera that will be replaced by something better (IQ, Video, etc…) in a few months.

    • Global

People have been saying “In a few months” for about 1.5 years now. No one can say in a few months……

The fact is that the D700 was a one time experiment by Nikon. Its not clear if Nikon will continue that way or what kind of release pattern they will have. Better to buy a USED D700 and be able to use your lenses and take a $300 hit than to not have the great camera you want.

Honestly, Nikon has reburbished D700es for $2,200 on their NikonUSA website. And you can buy a used one for $2200, with only 30,000 clicks (a mere 1/5th of the cameras lifetime, ensuring years of good use). And you’ll still be able to sell it for about $1900, because any new FX will cost $3,200 minimum (if available at all much).

Therefore, you can’t lose more than about $300 bucks, buying a reburbished D700 or getting a cared for used one — take a chance. Most D700 owners are not camera abusers.

      • FX

D700 replacement will arrive, it’s inevitable! Something incredible is waiting to be announced.

        • Just A Thought

“Something incredible is waiting to be announced.”

Oh, so you heard about Canon’s summer surprise(s)???

          • FX

            Who is Canon?

            • NRC

It’s a company that makes camcorders.

            • Just A Thought

              “Who is Canon?”

The only hope to prevent Nikon from being devoured by the Sony Godzilla??? They also make great photocopiers…..

      • Stephen

Nikon would be fools to not have a 5D competitor. D800 will come eventually.

        • D700

5D competitor?! You mean 5D Mark II competitor?

The D700 only lacks the MP and video mode of the 5DII apart from those things it’s a better camera. So yeah, Nikon already have a 5DII competitor.

  • Bip

With the rebate, it seems that Nikon’s non-pro products are not in short supply anymore.

    • Global

They never were. It was just your typically release and gobble up.

None of these products are made in Japan.

  • Agreee Bip.

I also have seen 600 mm, 500 mm lenses on Amazon; also a D700.
Also have noticed a lowering of prices to MSRP rather than MSRP +25% as we saw just weeks ago.

  • as things slowly get back to normal the prices are going down and more equipment is reaching our shores keep saving your money soon you will be using that credit card

  • Funduro

I’m so mad I at myself did not purchase the Nikkor 1.7TC before the quake/tsunami/nuke disaster. Oh well, maybe the prices will start going down slowly as the manufacturing gets straightened out.

    • The invisible man

They don’t make Kodachrome anymore 🙁

    • fxed

What’s up with using the Natgo Afgan girl as your avatar. Iv’e seen it on dpreview and it’s not a nice thing to do!

  • Geoff

Not one of those lenses is of any interest to me. /shrugs

  • The invisible man

Any rebate for the D900+AF-s 300mm f/4 VR II ?

    • JorPet

Sorry TIM, you missed it. It was a “One Day Only” rebate that occurred back on February 29th, of this year. You had to get in on the deal then or it was gone…
