“I am getting cold feet and I feel a weakness in my kneesโ€ฆ”
Admin you finally saw my picture? ๐Ÿ™‚

  • NikoDoby

    This is gonna be fun!

  • Zoetmb

    Rain comment:
    >> If the accident was the failure of Nikon products are favored, and bon appรฉtit special discount price fixing.

I think it means that if it rained so hard that you urinated in your pants because you were nervous about the affect on your camera, they’re going to have a special discount so that you can buy another body and eat it. Or something like that.

    • Nik

When the feet are cold, one will do what is necessary to warm them. If that means what you said, so be it.

  • dhchen

Japan got heavy rain last week at west Honshu and north Kyushu, and Nikon offers some discount for camera repairing to those who lives there.

  • But, but, I thought the D300s was weather sealed? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Zoetmb

    >>>9:52 (from a NR reader) FYI โ€“ It is now 9:50 pm EST and the Chasseur dโ€™images web site ( is down ..

It’s 9:56 and it’s up for me. And most of the home page is about Panasonic Lumix.

Can we please not get crazy!

    • I am sorry but I will feel really bad if I don’t get this one right – many people have sold their lenses/cameras based on my rumors.

      • NikoDoby

        No pressure admin, no pressure

      • Brett

If you are wrong my wife will divource me.

        • PJS

Funny! If he is RIGHT my wife will divorce me…

          • nikkor_2

A classic exchange here; I laughed so hard I almost cried.

          • STJ

            I’m still laughing… ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Zoetmb

Do not blame yourself for people stupid enough to sell their equipment based on a rumor, which, even if true, doesn’t mean the equipment will be available for sale immediately, for which they don’t know the price and also don’t know the specific specs and haven’t tried. IMO, anyone who sold a lens that they use based on a rumor is an idiot. If the lens wasn’t doing more than sitting on the shelf, then it’s no big deal anyway.

People should take this site the same way they should take watching O’Reilly, Limbaugh or Olberman — as entertainment, not as news.

        • Theodore

Amen to that. Even if the rumor is right, it wouldn’t make sense to sell a stellar 70-200 VR for a lens that may not ship until December and may cost who knows what when it does. Think of the 18-200 availability – awful. The D700 was a quick launch to purchase window and even that was four weeks. Only those who are unfamiliar with Nikon product launches (and don’t need their current lens apparently), and don’t understand what a “rumor” is would have sold their lens already and you can’t be blamed for that.

The people who need the 70-200, love the lens and will keep it until they are in a position to switch if they like the new one more (no guarantee for portrait and wedding photographers until we see how the bokeh compares; the current lens is very good). Don’t worry, you haven’t done any damage.

      • ryan

rumors are rumors… thats their own faults

      • Nic

Don’t feel bad. This is a great site to come to and get a pulse of what is going on out there right or wrong. I held off getting the 70-200 last September when there was a big buzz that it was going to come out back then. Granted it didn’t come out, but nobody can predict these things. I think some information is better than no information and I keep coming back to this site to get an idea of what is on the horizon.

Cheers for all the hard work.

      • M35

Believe me… since this is a rumor site I will not do anything for along time. I first want to see reviews, to see if the new equipment is worth it. So, I am months away from anything happening. Don’t feel bad. As you post RUMORS!

  • 70200VRII

The actual trinity is about to be complete: here comes the 70-200 VR II N

  • Anonymous

      • NikoDoby

“The magic should happen @ 6:00 am CET โ€“ midnight EST” – That’s what she said! 8^)

So you lose admin, I’m going home!

  • ryan

admin how sure are you about 12am?

  • Theodore

The D700 / SB-900 announcement leaked out around 11 p.m. last summer if I recall correctly. I first saw it on a European site. I think it was Nikon France. Other sites followed fairly quickly. That said, it wasn’t expected until midnight U.S. Eastern Standard Time and I don’t believe that sites like DP Review posted announcements on their front page until after that time.

  • Marco

Don’ t loose sleep on that folks

  • ryan

oh.. the sleeping is already being lost

  • dudemanppl

Take a screenshot of your browser, please? ๐Ÿ˜€ Jesus we are all dieing from anticipation.

    refresh, refresh, refresh

  • dhchen

Dont forget nikon is a japan company, and their schedule usually follows japan time. When new product announced, they usually update their site at 1300JST, which is 0400UTC(D5000 is an exception, announced a little bit earlier). Reasonable time for japan people.

    • Captain

      One hour to go then.

  • ato3

70-200vr with nano coating… been waiting for this for a long time!

  • kamikaze

I am Japanese. It is always announced by Nikon in Japan at 13:00PM at Japan standard time as spoken. After for one hour When English is amusing, I’m sorry.

  • Josuek6

That means we just have to wait less than an hour… It’s going to be long, but hopefully worth it!

  • People should take this site the same way they should take watching Oโ€™Reilly, Limbaugh or Olberman โ€” as entertainment, not as news.

Why did you leave out Henry Louis Gates Jr.?

Are you some kind of racist or something? ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Ubiquitous

Why are you here, then? Are you lost?

  • ^_^

    omg omg omg

  • Josuek6

Don’t you guys think is kind of weird how there was so much talk (and some fake images) about the D300s but nothing about the D3000? Seems the D300s got most of the attention.

  • Brent

    Man…I hope I don’t fall asleep waitinzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • Hey NR Admin,

You should try Cover it Live ( It’s a program that let’s you live blog and chat with your audience and…. *wait for it* live polls! It also helps me from just non-stop refreshing your page ๐Ÿ˜›

    • I may try this next time ๐Ÿ™‚ You know that there will be a next time ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Jon

I’ve got to ask you Mr. Admin man.. how many tabs do you have open?

    • 14 tabs + my iPhone, in case I loose Internet connectivity ๐Ÿ™‚

      • I also have a small program that checks for updates

        • btw the program was written by a NR reader

          • Jon

Damn.. a program? You really want to be first to announce it don’t you.. :p

  • Canon launching the 1D Mark IV tonight?

  • Anonymous

LOL Nikon must pleased…. all this excitement for 4 unremarkable new products. A camera that’s an incremental improvment of an existing body, a second camera that’s a nerfed version of an existing body, and marginal improvments of two existing lenses. Anyone who already has any of these 4 is hardly going to fall over themselves getting the new version (or if they do, they’re nuts IMHO)

  • Captain

What if the rumors turn out to be (gasp) just rumors?

    • then you will read about me in the newspaper tomorrow ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Captain

Then I hope not. I enjoy this site.

  • northy

11:31 โ€“ Good job Nikon โ€“ no premature announcements yet ๐Ÿ™‚

either that, or they have nothing to announce ๐Ÿ˜‰

or, Nikon decided to expend their market and will start making kid’s toys! and the first set of toys will be a set of plastic replicas of their most successful camera glass along with fake camera bodies! People in press room are speechless!

  • Quash

Liveblogging product announcements. you’re awesome, NRAdmin. Keep up the great work!!!

And remember, everyone. It was NRAdmin who first broke news of a D300s on this site, before anyone else, when everyone else was still talking about a D400.
