Eyewitness report: Nikon D80 – warehouse out of stock

From someone that works in a major US authorized dealer: “Our warehouse is totally out of D80’s, which hasn’t happened for a very, very long time. Take that as you will.” I take that and the previous post as a clear indication the Nikon D90 is coming soon (they may also call it Nikon D80x, […]

Nikon rep to a major US Nikon authorized dealer: Nikon D40 gone by Christmas; Nikon D80 should be sold ASAP, replacement coming

This is from CNET Asia: “As usual, we were told no comments for now, but that Nikon “will say more when the date draws near”. The spokesperson did volunteer that the pictures were taken at the agency where the brochures were printed.” What? They admitted it!

Live View

It seems that Live View is the topic of the day (see previous post). Today Canon released its new entry level model Canon EOS Rebel XS. This camera is almost identical to the Nikon D60, except the Live View – see comparison here. Sony is also actively pushing Live View and soon will offer cheap […]

Pop Photo Editors Predict What’s Next for Nikon DSLRs

Popular Photography & Imaging speculation: “The D3 and D300 knocked us with a one-two punch. So we predict that rather than try to top those cameras, Nikon will likely upgrade the D80, bumping up the sensor to 12MP and adding Live View, and keeping the price down to under $1,300.”
