Nikon DL cameras delayed “indefinitely”?

Nikon-DL-cameras
Nikon Germany told the popular website chip.de that the new Nikon DL compact cameras are delayed “indefinitely” and the hope is that something could be released before Christmas. Here is the German text:

and the translation:

The Nikon DL series delivers professional quality in a handy format when it finally arrives (talking to the portability and design of the camera, nothing to do with the sensor format). The manufacturer has postponed the release of its three models until an undisclosed date. This is what Nikon Germany tells us when we asked: “Perhaps something will come before Christmas”

If this is true, Nikon can as well just scratch this entire announcement and just give us the next iteration of DL models. The three DL cameras were announced back in February 2016, then delayed till June and then delayed again till October.

Update: I just received a tip that the new release date for the DL cameras is January 17th, 2017.
