Nikon announced the establishment of sales and service presence in Indonesia:

Nikon Corporation (Makoto Kimura, President) is pleased to announce the establishment of P.T. Nikon Indonesia in Jakarta. This new sales and service subsidiary will be launched to fortify sales of imaging products, beginning with digital cameras, and to enhance after-sales service in Indonesia. Operations commenced on February 1, 2013.

Indonesia has shown tremendous economic growth in recent years, and the growth of the digital camera business is expected to continue in this region. Until now, Nikon Hong Kong Ltd., Nikon's marketing base in Hong Kong, has handled sales and service operations for Indonesia. However, with expectations for further market expansion, Nikon has established this new sales subsidiary in order to expand operations in the Indonesian market.

Our primary goals in establishing this local sales and service subsidiary are to strengthen and to improve customer service with a system integrating all aspects of our business in Indonesia, from marketing to sales, customer support, and after-sales service. In addition, we believe that strategic marketing and effective advertising will lead to increased sales and greater permeation of the Nikon brand, further increasing Nikon's presence in this market.

  • Om Bob

Finally they sort this out !

Alta never really part of Nikon as they did not want to fix my D70 green led of death for free even after the advisory is out.

Most of us are not happy with service quality from Nikon’s long time partner for Indonesia. I hope something can change, better with more rebate and better product availability and service.

Indonesia is OK, I guess. Nikon just make sure your Indonesia HQ is not located near a Chinatown. Still lots of ethnic Chinese there. And you know, the unruly Chinese love to riot and tear up Japanese companies, over some stupid islands.

    • Hendy

Hehehe … most Japanese products in Indonesia are imported and sold by Chinese Indonesians.

    • grafiz

This is about photography NOT RACISM. Be smart! Be wise!

    • AlGod

This is a very racial statement from you.

My God I really have to have a pity for your personal view.

nah this issue is quite confusing about the warranty whether we should purchase Nikon stuffs with Nikon International Warranty (known as Black Market gadgets) or the items released by Local Distributors (PT. AltaNikindo)

Even the announcement didn’t mention PT. AltaNikindo at all as the long time distributors…
FYI we rarely purchased Nikon cameras/lens with HongKong warranty which we thought as Un-Original Nikon

what i get from this announcement, Nikon wanna take over AltaNikindo in indonesia because of poor marketing, sales and distribution…
For example, we have not receive any official AFS 85mm f/1.8G lens until now

    • Marchellino

ohh 85mm f/1.8G belum masuk indonesia ye. pantesan saya cari-cari online nggak ada yg garansi resmi indonesia

  • mickanosieg

New hope. God Bless Indonesia.thnx nikon

When will Nikon have a support here in the Philippines? The main distributor here sucks in service and after sales. No fixed price for camera repairs. Your bill is different from the other guy but you have the same problem issues.

    • royt

Columbia Digital w/c is the official Nikon rep in the Philippines really sucks!!! I’ve read so many horror stories fm disgruntled Nikon customers abt bad customer after sales service. Its even better to buy fm the gray mrkt.

My last disappointment with AltaNikindo (main distributor of Nikon camera in Indonesia) was last year Focus Expo, where they bump up D700 price during the Expo. Now I have switched to other brand (not canon of course LOL).

    • hendrik

we have no NPS in Indonesia (have to wait 3 weeks to service my SB unit), no special promo, nothing…..
