What is the lightest and cheapest full frame camera/lens set?

Here is an interesting video from Duncan Dimanche who compared the price and weight of a basic full frame camera + lens set from the top four manufacturers (Sony, Nikon, Canon, and Pentax). The results may surprise you – the Nikon D750 body with five lenses was lighter and cheaper compared to a similar Sony a7 set (click for larger view):

The new Nikon EN-EL18b battery is now in stock

Back in February Nikon quietly introduced a new EN-EL18b lithium-ion battery for D4, D4s and D5 DSLR cameras.

The new version has 10.8V of output power, 2500mAh capacity, and 27Wh energy consumption rate. The older EN-EL18 model had a 2000 mAh capacity, but the EN-EL18a was also 2500mAh.

The new Nikon EN-EL18b battery is currently in stock at B&H.

The latest Nikon lens patents (incl. 35mm f/2 full frame lens designed for a curved sensor)

It is time for another recap of the latest Nikon lens patents I have been collecting over the past few months:

The first patent (P2017-125904A) that was published today is the most interesting – it’s for a 35mm f/2 full frame lens designed for a curved sensor. Please note that the patent does not provide sufficient technical information to determine if this is a mirrorless or a DSLR lens (Nikon had other curved sensor patents in the past).
