Nikon Coolpix P1000 zoom tests and hands-on review videos

When I published the last set of videos from the Nikon Coolpix P1000 camera, there were some valid concerns from readers that the videos could be fake because the actual camera was never shown. We now have several new “authentic” P1000 reports with new zoom tests that also clearly display the new camera (the Nikon P1000 will start shipping on September 6th and is currently available for pre-order at B&HAmazonAdoramaWEXPark Camera):

The new Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 Di OSD lens will be announced on Monday, price: $599

The new Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 Di OSD lens for Nikon F-mount (Model A037) will be officially announced on Modany, August 6. Shipping is scheduled to start on September 4th for the Nikon F-mount version. The Japanese price is¥78,300 yen (including tax), around $700 USD in the US.

Update: I just received information about the price of the Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 Di OSD lens in the US: $599:

The vision behind the Model A037 is that of an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens that has a separate concept from SP 15-30mm F/2.8 Di VC USD (Model A012), with superb image quality and easy portability. At just 3.5 in in length and 16.2 oz. in weight, it is the smallest and lightest in its class. The focal length ranges from an ultra-wide 17mm that is suitable for professional landscape photography to a standard 35mm perfect for snapshot photography. As for F-stops, the wide-angle end is a large aperture F/2.8, and at the telephoto end is a fast F/4. The Moisture-Resistant Construction and Fluorine Coating help to enhance the user’s photographic experience. For those looking to try out an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for the first time, as well as having a lens that is easily portable, the A037 is the definitive choice. The lens will be available in Nikon mount on September 4, 2018 at a suggested retail price of $599. The launch of the Canon mount model will be announced at a later date.

Technical specifications:

  • Lens construction: 15 elements in 10 groups
  • Shortest shooting distance: 0.28 m
  • Maximum magnification: 1: 4.9
  • Filter diameter: 77 mm
  • Size: φ83.6 mm × 92.5 mm (for Canon)
  • Weight: 460 g

Tamron already has a 15-30mm f/2.8 lens for Nikon F-mount.
