Just a few bullet points on the Nikon acquisition of RED camera:

• Nobody outside of Japan had a clue about the acquisition (Nikon USA still doesn’t have a press release out).
• RED camera will be a good fit for Mark Roberts Motion Control (MRMC) – a company Nikon acquired in 2016,
• Last year RED sued Nikon for infringing on its video compression patents.
• RED camera with Nikon Z-mount? Canon will not be happy about that.
• RED cameras have been used in many award-winning movies.
• RED has many important patents that can be further adapted by Nikon.
• RED sensor and other tech!
• RED will become a subsidiary of Nikon.
• Price/evaluation and exact terms of the deal were not disclosed.
• RED is based in Foothill Ranch, California and has 220 employees.
• RED was founded in 2005 by Jim Jannard.
