Nikon sued for patent infringement by Digimedia Tech


Digimedia Tech is suing Nikon for patent infringement. The involved patents are:

  • 6,914,635 for “Microminiature Zoom System for Digital Camera”
  • 6,545,706 and 7,715,476 for “System, Method and Article of Manufacture for Tracking a Head of a Camera-Generated Image of a Person.”

The impacted cameras are the Nikon Coolpix A1000 and Nikon Coolpix P900:

It’s somehow funny for me to have my project shown here on NikonRumors because I had the initial idea after I saw the street photography project by Brian Homer from Birmingham just here at Nikonrumors. So I thought about creating a documentation about people here in Vorarlberg, the most western part of Austria. Nikon Z5 mirrorless camera rumored specifications

Not the actual Nikon Z5 but I expect the new camera to have a very similar design

First, I have to correct my previous Nikon Z5 post – I reported that the Z5 will not have a top electronic viewfinder. The translation I got was actually wrong – the Nikon Z5 will not have an electronic display on the top panel and will indeed have an electronic viewfinder on the top panel (similar to the Nikon Z50 design).
