Nikon D4 and D800 price increases coming to more countries?

DigitalRev has the D4 in stock for £4,689.00 + free shipping

The UK may not be the only country to raise the price of the Nikon D4 and D800 cameras. There is a good chance that this will happen also in at least one more European country (maybe Norway?). For now this is just a rumor, but I was told that Nikon D4 orders has been put on hold awaiting the new prices. I have no information about a potential price hike in the US.

If you are in the UK, maybe it’s worth checking DigitalRev who currently have the D4 in stock for £4,689.00 (free shipping to the UK).

Update: several readers confirmed that pre-order UK prices will not be changed/increased. Nikon UK also confirmed the price increase on Facebook:

Currently the Nikon D800 is listed for £2,399.00 £2,599.00 at Amazon and Jessops and the Nikon D4 is priced at £5289.00. I am not sure about the D800, but the D4 was initially listed for £4799

Patent application 20120069440 is for the upcoming Nikkor AF-S 28mm f/1.8G full frame lens. I have no exact announcement date yet, but I believe this lens will be introduced in 2012. The patent contains several different calculations and one of them is for 28mm f/1.8:

  • f = 28.08 (focal length)

Nikon D800 updates

I was lucky to get a D800 from BestBuy today. Check your local store – they may have some in stock. My Amazon order is still in a “not yet shipped” state (pre-ordered at 1:07 am the night of the announcement). Some readers already received shipping dates from Amazon. Many small dealers in the US got D800 shipments today, but the majority of the orders were sent to NPS members. I have not heard anyone (non-NPS) getting a camera from one of the major US online retailers.

Today Apple released Digital Raw Compatibility update 3.11 that includes support for the Nikon D800:
