On January 28, 2013 Nikon will launch a new online image sharing and storage website called “Nikon Image Space“. You will get 2GB of free storage, improved usability, greater performance and collaboration with social networking sites. Existing myPicturetown accounts will be automatically transferred to the new Nikon Image Space.

Nikon released a new version of their free my Picturetown app for Android with added support (image sharing, organization and storage) for the new Coolpix S800c camera.
This just in from TechCrunch: Google acquired Nik Software. Nik Software is the company behind the Nikon Capture NX2 software and other popular photo editing products. FYI: back in 2006, Nikon made a “capital investment” in Nik Software.
Another software update: Nikon NEF Codec v1.15.0 is now available for download and includes support for the latest Nikon 1 J2 camera (Windows only). Nikon NEF Codec makes Nikon RAW (.NEF) files as easy to work in a Windows environment (similar to JPEG and TIFF images).
