New Voigtlander SEPTON 40mm f/2 Aspherical lens for Nikon Z-mount announced

Designed exclusively for the Nikon Z mount

Equipped with an optical system optimized for the image sensors of mirrorless cameras that use the Nikon Z mount, this lens has a full-size image circle and can be used with both full-size (Nikon FX format) mirrorless cameras and APS-C size (Nikon DX format) mirrorless cameras.

Compact design with a total length of 32mm

The overall length from the mount surface is a compact 32mm, making it easy to carry around and take in and out of a bag, and the 40mm angle of view, which can also be used as a semi-wide-angle lens, makes it suitable for everyday use.

Electronic contacts for communication with the body

The lens mount is equipped with electronic contacts, enabling electrical communication between the lens and body. The combination of an electrical communication-compatible body and the latest firmware*1 enables support for Exif information, in-body image stabilization (3-axis), and three types of focusing support functions (focusing by changing the focus point frame color, focusing by peaking, and focusing using the magnification button).

Manual focus for precise focusing

The all-metal helicoid unit is machined and adjusted with high precision, and the use of high-quality grease that generates just the right amount of torque ensures smooth focusing, allowing for subtle focus adjustments.

Dome-shaped metal hood included

The included dome-shaped metal screw-on hood maintains the lens’s compact size. The hood has a φ52mm thread on its outer periphery, so the same front cap can be used with or without the hood.

Cosina Co., Ltd. is releasing the SEPTON 40mm F2 Aspherical Z-mount, a standard lens designed specifically for Nikon Z-mount compatible with Foctrender FX format (full size).

SEPTON is the name of the lens shutter-style single-lens refunds, sold as a new shooting platform replacing rangefinders from the end of the 1950s to the 1960s, attached to standard lenses developed for Bessamatic and Ultramatic. Septon is a lens that introduced in 1950 for rangefinder cameras that further improved optical performance by adding a single lens to a six-piece configuration of Ultron, and is known as one of the best foctrenders.
The SEPTON 40mm F2 Aspherical Z-mount is a standard pancake type lens with compactability that matches your mirrorless camera. Optimized for a full-size Nikon Z mount sensor, and by adding a single non-spherical lens based on a 6-sheet orsometer type, it achieves the brightness of F2 while maintaining the merits of an orsometer that can miniaturize the optical system.

There are many examples of elongated lenses, the orsometer type feature is very small distortion composition, and it allows you to draw straight line motifs without causing distortion.

The total length from the mounting surface is compact at 32mm, so it is less stressful when carrying or taking out of the bag, and can be used as a quasi-wide angle lens, the 40mm picture angle is suitable for everyday lenses. The shortest shooting distance is 0.3m, and works well for table photos.
Comes with a dome metal screwable hood that doesn’t compact. The outer hood has のス52mm threads, and the front cap can be shared on both sides of the hood.

The SEPTON 40mm F2 Aspherical Z-mount has electronic contactpoint, Exif information through the combination of electronic communication-enabled body and latest firmware, and in-body handblemish correction (3-axis), and supports three types of pint-binding support functions (pint-binded by focus point frame color change, pint-match by peaking function, and pint-bonded by magnification button).
