The press release says that the new Nikon MC-DC3 remote release cord is compatible only with the Z50II and later models equipped with a headphone/remote cord connector (3.5mm jack).
Additional information:
The MC-DC3 Remote Release Cord helps minimize camera shake while taking photos with compatible Nikon cameras.
To use the MC-DC3, simply plug the 3 ft, 3 in (1 m) cord into the 3.5 mm stereo mini-pin headphone/remote jack* of a compatible Nikon camera and check that [# connector function] in the setup menu is set to [Auto switch].
When connected, the two-stage shutter release button on the MC-DC3 functions in the same way as the shutter release button on Nikon cameras. A half-press activates AE/AF, and a full press triggers the shutter. No more worrying about blurry images when shooting macros and close-ups, long-exposure starry skies, night scenes or product photography.
The MC-DC3 ‘s release button also features a convenient locking switch for long, timed exposures and extended burst photography.
* Note that although they look similar, the MC-DC3 will not function if plugged into a standard 3.5 mm external microphone input. Refer to your camera’s user manual for details.
