Zeiss has no plans to make mirrorless lenses for Nikon Z-mount

A reader (thanks Konstantinos!) contacted Zeiss and asked them about their plans to produce mirrorless lenses for Nikon Z-mount. Here is the response he got:

Thanks for your inquiry.
Hope you can catch a lot of outstanding images with you ZEISS lenses!
The mechanical dimensions of the Z-mount are also protected by international licenses. So it is not allowed for 3rd party manufacturers to offer native Z-mount lenses without permission.

Many other third-party manufacturers are already selling mirrorless lenses for Nikon Z-mount (Laowa, 7Artisans, Kipon, Meike, Samyang, Mitakon, Vitrox, Yasuhara, Lensbaby, Rumiere).
