CIPA’s November report is out


CIPA (Camera & Imaging Products Association in Japan) published their November report (orange: 2019, black: 2018, blue: 2017, click for larger view):


For the month:

  • DSLR units shipped: 366k (28.9% below same month last year, October was 429k)
  • Mirrorless units shipped: 453k (highest of the year and 22% above same month last year, October was 445k)
  • Compact units shipped: 609K (23% below same month last year, October was 597k)

Calendar year to date:

  • DSLR Units  -33%
  • DSLR Shipped Value -42%
  • Mirrorless Units -5%
  • Mirrorless Shipped Value +6%
  • Compact Units -21%
  • Compact Shipped Value -17%
  • Lenses for smaller than 35mm Units –26%
  • Lenses for smaller than 35mm Shipped Value -24%
  • Lenses for 35mm and larger Units -14%
  • Lenses for 35mm and larger Shipped Value -5%
  • Mirrorless unit share (of Mirrorless + DSLR) 46.3% (was 37.9% YTD last year)
  • Mirrorless Shipped Value share 61.5%
