I have been reporting for a while that a new high-end compact Nikon camera is still a possibility after the DL line was killed. Here is some additional information provided by Nokishita for the newly registered Nikon N1823 camera:
- It will use the Nikon EN-EL20a battery (used for the Nikon V3)
- Nikon EH-73P (used for Coolpix cameras)
- Nikon UC-E21 USB cable (used for Coolpix cameras)
- The N1823 camera will be compatible with the Nikon Speedlight SB-500, Nikon Stereo Microphone ME-1 and Nikon MC-DC2 remote controller
The above list suggests that the N1823 model could be a new high-end compact Nikon camera.
In the current Nikon Coolpix offering (see screenshot above), the P1000 model is the only camera that has a flash hot shoe and can take an external flash.
