Report: Nikon 1 semi-officially discontinued in Canada

Nikon 1 concepts on display when the system was introduced

A reader sent me a link to a dpreview thread describing a conversation with a Nikon rep at a recent trade photo show in Canada:

The annual trade photo show is taking place at the main camera store here in Regina, Canada. At the Nikon booth, there were no Nikon 1 cameras, lenses or accessories (like last year, too). When I asked the rep, “What’s happening with Nikon 1?” His reply was:

“(Shoulder shrug) There won’t be anything new. We’ve introduced the last of the Nikon 1 bodies.”

I asked, “There are no lenses on the shelves, either. Does that mean that if there are no more lenses then the system is discontinued?”

He replied, “Well, it’s not officially discontinued yet.”
