Nikon released Capture NX 2.4.5 and ViewNX 2.8.2 versions with support for the new Nikon D5300 and Df DSLR cameras.

Nikon Capture NX 2.4.5 modifications that apply to both the Windows and Macintosh versions:

  • Support for RAW images captured with the D5300, and Df has been added.
  • The Better Quality 2012 option under Noise Reduction in the Camera Settings portion of the Develop section in the Edit List palette has been changed to Better Quality 2013.
Applicable from this version, Intensity and Sharpness can now be adjusted separately for both Luminance and Color. Therefore, when images to which Better Quality 2012 was applied with Capture NX 2 Ver. 2.4.4 or earlier are opened in Capture NX 2 Ver. 2.4.5, the effects of Noise Reduction adjustment may change.

Nikon ViewNX modifications enabled with ver. 2.8.2:

  • Support for the D5300, and the Df has been added.

Admin, Df is down to #31 on Amazon’s Hot New Releases.
Is that a surprise to you? Is that Amazon ranking accurate? Maybe because the product is launched as four different products?

    • Actually it did surprise me. I have no idea how Amazon calculates the top spots – it could really be because there are four different Df listings.

      • Neopulse

Amazon runs primarily on algorithms, especially with suggestions and pricing. People moderate it, but if they put a search of a certain item, chances are it will be a crude assessment of the numbers.

I never really saw this as the sort of body you’d buy from Amazon anyhow, so I wouldn’t be too concerned that the lowish ranking is any indication as to how well it’s selling. It seems like it’s more of a body you’d walk into a bricks and mortar camera store to try first before committing to.

……….and then order it from Amazon.

        • Joel

Well that’d be the douchebag thing to do wouldnt it? 🙂

    • I 16 hours ago and it was in the forties!

finally…so we should start to see some raw samples to download …maybe..

Unfortunately, I just got a notification from B&H saying that my D5300 may be delayed. (Supposed to ship in two days) I guess their software dept is just doing their job!

    after Df, what’s next ?
admin, what can we expeed soon from NIKON ?

    an d800 boosted with expeed 4 ?
an update of D7100 with better buffer, fps and improved QI due to expeed 4 ?

      D3200s (for Snow white).

  • I’d rather be shot in the kneecaps than use any camera manufacturer’s software. Every time I do, I regret it.

Question: does it keep the better quality NR option, w/o year? That’s the best one still, IMO, I don’t want to update if it’s been removed.

Get Lightroom 5 and convert your RAW files to DNG files. It reduces their size to almost half! And that saves a ton of GBs!!!
