I guess. So does this mean Nikon seriously hired Joe McNally to promote a coolpix?

      • AnoNemo

Yes, he will submerge this new CoolCrap in the septic tank in his backyard and take pictures of the crap floating on the top….

  • David C.

Will the P7100 operate quicker than the P7000, I wonder? *baited breath*

  • So if I tape one of these to my pile of crap D80 do you reckon it’ll be like a d800??

    • Drunkcaballo

No. It will be more like a Canon.

    • Mal

No, but if you stick one in your mouth we won’t have to hear the shit that’s coming out ?

      • Victor Hassleblood

That would be the rugged, I recon.

      • gt

Disappointed by the lack of rumors and hungry for more DSLRs, the frusterated nikonrumors readers…turn on one another….

  • Artur Kozłowski

P7100 looks just like the Canon G’s, hmm, I wonder why…

  • diego

the grip and the dial of the p7100 reminds me the form of the contax G2

  • Daniel

I want my D800 or D4 whatever pls give me a fx body right now

  • Todd

Really? I just want my 80-400mm replacement and I’ll be on my way. To each his own…bla bla bla.

    RAW or GTFO

    • distanted

I just found my next vanity plates…

  • Nikon Coolpix P7100 looks like Canon G series. Still not sure if its that good like Canon G12.

  • AnoNemo

heheh and it has better video capabilities than the mighty D3s or any of the Nikon FX cameras. I think this is the point where Nikon is really becoming ridiculous. I mean the message today from Nikon is that if you want FX video 1080p then go to Canon because we do not change course and want to milk that 12MP sensor forever. Very sad day. This will be a day of crap announcements not appreciation of the loyal Nikon users for waiting f#$%^& years for high res, FX, small body, and 1080p.

    • Me

Yes, the coveted selective focus and shallow DOF obtainable with one of these little cameras must be truly stunning.

      • AnoNemo

Try to get 1080p out of any of the Nikon FX!!!!

        • Me

And how important is that? My video cam does 1080 and I only upload 720p to my stream. You only can stream so much data across the web from hosting sites and 720p compressed less looks better, IMHO, than 1080p that needs to be compressed more.

          • AnoNemo

You just said it above … DOF…. hypocracy the word to describe the behaviour.

    • scurvy hesh

DURRR DURRR DURRRR. Yes they would have better video because they are newer cameras genius. Do you really think Nikon is going to stop making DSLRS?

  • Marc

Don’t think this is what Joe Mcnally is going to demonstrate with. This is smokescreen for what is still coming. And as some have noted, some of the possibilities in these handhelds are better than what is available currently in the FX/DX DSLR’s. I am curious and in th emean time keep on dreaming 🙂

  • mh :)

no wonder that london is burning…going to rampage very soon too…thx2nikon 😛

  • D700guy

    How exciting

  • Greg

    …… BORING …

  • Joaquim Prado

Do we really need more and more coolpix?

  • The invisible man

I just both a P7000 2 weeks ago for friends who came visit USA.
    Nice little camera.

  • Al0n

Joe Mcmoney or not, I am hyperventilating and on a Glenfiddich drip.

    When is August 24th?

    • The invisible man

      not this year

  • {{{yawn}}}

  • Ric

What’s the big button on the front?

  • Eric Calabros

Lets face it.. We are Lots enoght to down NR server but Few enogh that Nikon doesnt care about us

  • David

I want the AW100! That’s the kind of compact camera that I want with me when I go to the beach or hiking or swimming, or anywhere.
And my D3 still works just fine to do my professional work. No issues. Take your time with the D4, Nikon.

  • Dormant

How does the lens of the AW100 zoom while keeping out the water?

Is the lens actually inside the camera and what we see is just a window with a 45 degrees mirror behind it?

  • Looks like the AW100 is a late comer to the Pany Lumix TS3 party. The TS3 is a very capable beach/pool/bad weather camera.I bought one this summer.
The folded optics give it a little softer image than the Canon, but it’s a lot thinner and easier to pocket. I suspect the AW100 will perform about the same or a little worse than the TS3, because so far I haven’t been impressed with Nikon’s folded optics cameras like the S70.
