Nikon will have a new product announcement on February 7th, 2012. Expect new Coolpix cameras and probably the Nikon D800 to be revealed. At that point I am not sure if there will be also a new lens announced on that date. This is a good timing since the CP+ Camera and Photo Imaging shows [...]
Under today’s date (December 14th, 2011) there is a new Coolpix S2600 camera listed on Nikon Imaging website: Not sure if this is a mistake or a late announcement. Full specs and sample images can be found here.
Nikon filed patent 2011232502 in Japan for a 24-100mm f/1.8-2.6 lens which will probably be used in the Coolpix P300 replacement: The current P300 model has a 24-100mm f/1.8-4.9 equivalent lens.
Four Nikon cameras (S100, P300, AW100 and D5100) and one microscope received the iF design award this year. I am surprised that the Nikon 1 did not receive an award (maybe it announced too late? no pun intended).
