Nikon market share in Japan for 2016 according to BCN ranking


The 2016 BCN rankings for the Japanese market are out (BCN collects sales data from approximately 2/3 of all Japanese retail stores). Here are the details (click for larger view):

In the DSLR category, Nikon is obviously still on second place, but they lost almost 5% market share while Canon gained over 7%:


Sigma pushed Nikon from the #2 spot in the lens category – Nikon lost almost 3% market share here:


The only category Nikon actually gain market share is… fixed lens cameras (up 1.1%) – probably due to the Coolpix P900:


Since 2011 Nikon was never in the top spots in the mirrorless category:
