Happy New Year!

Another year has passed and this is the time when I thank all readers for continuing to follow NikonRumors. In 2010 we beat all records from previous years: 3,919,159 absolute unique visitors from 226 countries/territories generated a total of 27,379,445 pageviews! The [NR] blog now has a total of 1,538 posts with 96,438 comments. The NikonRumors Forum that was launched year and a half ago now has 4,230 members that created 49,868 posts in 2,499 topics. Did I mention the 18,785 Twitter followers?

For all of this, a big THANK YOU for being a [NR] reader! When I started this site 2.5 years ago I could never imagine this to become such a popular web hub for all things Nikon. Without your tips, comments, guest posts, forum moderation and participation, I couldn't have made it.

Yeah, Happy New Year. One year older and one year closer to death.

Anyway, only 2 things I want to hear about in 2011 and it better be asap.

    D300 replacement
    80-400 replacement

This is all I care about this new year.

    Later,
    D

      D300 replacement is the D300s.
      80-400… seriously? Ok…

      :P

Come on man. A replacement is a new camera with new sensor and new features. the D300s is just a slight update and not a new replacement (D400).

Yes, a new 80-400 or 100-400 is needed as not everyone wants and can spend $6000-12,000 on a 300mm -600mm lens.

I’d like to pass on my greetings to everyone, but as this is a Nikon related site I will be publishing my New Year’s greeting in or about the 2nd quarter, possibly.
In the meantime, feel free to speculate what the message may or may not contain ( although I’m quite happy to use last year’s greeting as it still seems to do the job ).

    Cheers,

Happy New Year to NR admin and NR readers !
Great going NR admin , I’ve been reading [NR] from past few months and much of the news has been spot on ! I got my D90 2 months ago so won’t be seeking out a D7000/D400/D800/D4 anytime soon, but [NR] is so interesting, I’ll stick around reading even though my next DSLR is a long time away !

Keep up the good work !

Let us hope for a great 2011 – after all the lens we can surely expect cameras. The question remains however: what will it be? That is, why we need the NR site. Otherwise we would possibly buy the last samples of D3X and would be surprised by the news.

How about some REAL love, Admin, and cut 1/2 the dubious ads.
You’re a source of malware and enough cookies to choke a certain blue muppet.

With all those pageviews you’re making plenty of money, and can well afford to switch to more “classy” ad providers.

You come on here hurling insults and talk about class? That’s rich. Try that on CanonRumors where comments like yours would have been censored.

Here’s an idea. Buy a Mac, turn on private browsing and never worry about malware and cookies again.

One needs a Mac to do that?
            Interesting.

            Pot, meet kettle.
Your whole account is an insult yet you accuse me… rich.

    • Posted January 1, 2011 at 2:25 pm | Permalink

In a month or two I will be changing the whole ad structure on the site and with some luck, I may only run direct advertisement by the end of the year. You will see also less banners displayed on the right side bar. Just FYI, some banner sometimes use iframes which triggers some security software products, it doesn’t really mean that this is malware.

      • Grumpy Smurf
        Posted January 1, 2011 at 3:51 pm | Permalink

        Nikonrumors:
13 off-site domains trying to run scripts (not calling these malicious), 4 third-party tracking cookies.

        Canonrumors:
2 off-site domains trying to run scripts, 2 third-party trackers.

Only point is that one can successfully run such a site while maintaining a much higher degree of control, and none of the recent malware “scares” have been false-positives due to iframes.
