NikonRumors turns 2 today

nikon rumors 2 years old NikonRumors turns 2 today

Exactly 2 years ago I posted several small messages online on upcoming Nikon products. This is how NikonRumors started.

Today, on the second anniversary, we have 1,212  posts, 56,170 comments and... 24,296 spam messages.

Over the past two years we had few million visitors form 225 countries/territories. I did receive several thousand emails from readers with information on Nikon products. It has been a lot of fun.

I want to thank all of you for being [NR] readers. Special thanks also to the forum moderators  - the [NR] forum now has over 2,400 members with 32,702 posts in 1,670 topics.

We have again some quiet time ahead of us and I will be posting some "non-rumors" topics in the next few weeks. I will also make some small changes to the website design and maybe even change to white background one day icon smile NikonRumors turns 2 today

You can follow NikonRumors on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr and the [NR] forum group on flickr.

Many happy returns NR… good effort with a clean and informative site. I bet Nikon themselves check here almost as obsessively as me!

Been waiting about a year for a new full frame SLR, and I’m still waiting… this site has kept us in the loop, but I’m still quite impressed at how well Nikon manage to keep a lid on a product which (surely by now ;) ) must be well into development.

    Happy Birthday NR!

Although I am a long time Canon user, I do regularly visit this highly interesting site. It’s a great time for us photographers, as we can take advantage of the fierce competition between the main manufacturers, leading to fantastic products independent of the brand.

    Keep on your great work!

    Happy Birthday NR.

Its part of my daily net news, thanks for all the handwork (and heres to more..)
And I’d laeve it as a black round. not white. Unless Nikon are intending to change their camera bodies to white? Now that is a rumor….

    All the best

Please don’t change the background to white, as to commemorate that for now the Dark Knight title is still belong to Nikon with its D3s :-)

Many happy returns. But how on earth do you deal with all the spam? I think you could make some money off your secret by shopping your consulting services to Tribune Company, whose newspaper websites have more spam than comments these days.

    • Posted May 2, 2010 at 1:36 pm | Permalink

The spam filter (Askimet) does 95% of the work – I just have to monitor and make sure “good” comments don’t get labeled as spam (and the other way around).

        Posted May 2, 2010 at 8:49 pm | Permalink

I suggest that you use captcha to ensure that at least the message is posted by human, not by internet bots. That way, Askimet will have drastically reduced number of messages to deal with in the first place, and then finally your effort to monitor and separate “good comments” from spam is also drastically reduced.
