Nikon 300mm f/2.8G AF-S ED VR II now in stock

Update: Nikon TC-20E III AF-S 2x Teleconverter is also now listed in stock.

I forgot to add this to my previous post: Nikon 300mm f/2.8G AF-S ED VR II is now in stock for $100 less than the suggested retail price. The TC-20E teleconverter is still not available. Both product were suppose to start shipping in January 2010.

No mention of the 300mm VRII on the B&H site yet?

Btw, ADORAMA says they have it: http://www.adorama.com/NK30028AFVRU.html (it says 300mm f/2.8G ED-IF II AF-S VR) — “II”…. but the image shows the first version. Also, the price is $5,299.95.

Is this Adorama’s mistake to label it “II”? Or is the new version actually a “III”???

        ADMIN–

You might update “Price Watch” for this lens (its been saying “Buy” for the old version even since the announcement of the new lens for some while). And on that note, “Deals” is getting stale.

No big hurry, but since those sections hotlink to purchase points, it probably better for your commissions if they are known as reliable. :-)

As a side note, the B&H prices for lenses are all horribly off. If they were true, I would order a 14-24, 24-70, 70-200, 200-400, 200/2 and 85/1.4 today.

I just added a fix for the B&H prices in the price watch section. It should be active tomorrow. I am thinking to remove the deals and review section – does anyone read those?

Very nice lens. Too big and too expensive, for me. Oh, well.

I did pre-order one at amazon but I canceled it after the 70-200VR2 surprise showing up.

You canceled your 300/2.8 VRII order over the 70-200/2.8 VRII NON ISSUE..???

yes, I will stick to my old policy of not buying any first batch Nikon products. Let us hear those eager early adapters’ experiences first.

If the Rumors worth talking about are the lenses AND the lenses availability in one store or another, this site may be boring soon !

How about concentrating on the real rumors, not on the usual trade buzz, or the sadly usual Nikon shortages ?

When I say “trade buzz”, I meanwhen a store announces they have received a lens, forgetting to say they received 5 pieces for a wish list of 50 customers, making 45 angry guys, and maybe 50 more fooled buyers.

Admin, I have seen many posts around already from people getting their TC20-III, so maybe they are currently filing pre orders only.

    I’ll take 5.

I’ll just take the 100 dollars off, or do I have to buy the lens for that? :o

My TC-20E (new design) has shipped from Adorama as of 01.30.10. Have used the Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 VRII and the D3s for two months now without any flaws, problems or failures whatsoever. Simply excellent, amazing tools. Thank You, Nikon!

If that was an image from Amazon U.S., it’s already changed. It’s now a “preorder” from an un-named dealer (not Cameta) and the price is $5819. And since we know the actual “estimated selling price” from Nikon is $5900, how can they post that “list” is $6640?

Amazon also claims that this is the 74th best selling product in electronics. Really? A $6000 lens that isn’t available is the 74th best selling product? Are sales of electronics at Amazon that bad?

UPS brought my new TC-2)E III this afternoon from Berger Bros., where I had pre-ordered the teleconverter when it was announced. I haven’t even had the chance to open the box. Can hardly wait.
