Update: this rumor was busted - the lens shown is Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM (no idea why its displayed as AF-S).
A reader submitted those screenshots - I guess this caught everyone by surprise: a new
Nikon lens Nikkor AF-S 50-150mm F/2.8G (maybe even VR). Hallelujah!
The screenshot was taken from the new Capture NX2 software.

I’m curious how much this lense is going to cost. People that are looking forward to 50-150 range are either going for the sigma or a 70-200 on a D3.
People on a budget are going for the sigma ofcourse, but the sigma has it’s well known problems. Is Nikon going for the budget buyer? Or are they going to put a very good lens on the market that is twice as expensive as the Sigma?
Let’s hope it’s right down the middle
You’ve got a point, it’s just that the 50-150 doesn’t have the ‘G’ in its full name

Isn’t that AF-S field “focus mode” (ie. AF-S,AF-C or Manual)?
Sigma add’s G in lens field (like: 10-20mm F/4-5.6G or 30mm F/1.4G)
Looks like lens was Sigma 50-150/2.8

Funny to see the Sigma lens in a Nikon application.
Oh well. It was fun while it lasted!!
