What to expect from Nikon in 2020

Here is an updated list on what to expect from Nikon in 2020:

  • Nikon D6 is coming in February.
  • Nikon D780 is coming next week.
  • Nikon Coolpix P950 is coming next week.
  • Nikon D500 refresh is a possibility (not a completely new model, probably just a minor refresh – maybe one new model that will replace both the D500 and D7500?).
  • At least one new mirrorless camera expected in 2020 – not sure if full-frame or APS-C. A new high-megapixel 60MP Z camera and/or another fast Z camera are rumored for 2020-2021 (Nikon Z8?). Two new APS-C cameras are also rumored – one above (Z70?) and one below (Z30?) the current Z50 model.
  • Most of the registered cameras on this list will be announced in 2020.
  • Two new F-mount lenses: I got a tip that there could be new 600mm and 800mm PF lenses but I could not confirm this with another source so far.
  • The Nikkor Z 70-200mm f/2.8 is coming next together with the 120-300mm lens (plus whatever other Z lenses are scheduled for 2020 according to the latest Z roadmap).

New Z-mount adapters

Kipon announced the first Speedbooster focal reducer adapter (BAVEYES N/G-N/Z 50 0.7) exclusively designed for the Nikon Z50 (for attaching Nikon G lenses to Nikon Z50 cameras):

  • Kipon BAVEYES N/G-N/Z50 0.7 adapter is designed for the Nikon Z50 camera, allowing Nikon G mount lenses to be mounted onto Nikon Z50 camera bodies. The 0.7x optic adapter gets rid of crop factor, and increases the aperture.
  • With KIPON BAVEYES N/G-N/Z50 0.7 adapter, although the lens will fit physically, automatic diaphragm, auto-focusing, and other functions will not work, only manual model will be available.

The new Fringer EF-NZ adapter is now available for purchase at Amazon (for adapting EF/EF-S lenses from Canon, Sigma, Tamron and other third parties to Nikon Z cameras).
