If you remember my rumored Nikon Z9 mirrorless camera specifications, I did mention that there will be a new Nikon EN-EL18x battery. Nokishita just reported that Nikon recently registered a new, not-yet-released, EN-EL18d battery in Russia and my guess is that this will be the battery used in the upcoming Z9 professional mirrorless camera. A quick update on my post from last week: the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR lens is not discontinued – the previous response by Nikon UK support was a mistake. The lens is just out of stock, which has been the case since pretty much the lens was introduced back in 2018.
