I can now confirm that the new Nikon Nikkor Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S lens will be officially announced tonight.

Shipping will start in 4-6 weeks as already reported.

I was told that the US price of the lens will be north of the $13k I reported earlier and much closer to $14k. You have been warned…

Ok, final update: US price will be $14k.

An authorized Australian Nikon dealer has already listed the upcoming Nikkor Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S lens for the equivalent of 13,500 USD (tax is included in that price):

As I already mentioned earlier today– the new 400mm lens will be very light and very expensive. Here are a few price comparisons with other 400mm f/2.8 lenses:

Nikon AF-S 400mm f/2.8E FL ED VR: $11,197
Sony FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS: $11,998
Canon RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM: $11,999

I can definitely see how the new Nikkor Z 400mm f/2.8 will be priced around $13k in the US. Hopefully, we will find out tonight – stay tuned for detailed coverage.

I already reported that the new Nikon NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S mirrorless lens for Z-mount is rumored to be announced at the end of January. There is a very good chance that the official announcement will be tonight – stay tuned. The lens will be very light and very expensive. Keep an eye on the B&H Photo listing for that lens – the price should show up at some point tonight.

Here is a picture of the Nikon Z9 camera capturing a bullet fired from a rifle during a biathlon competition by photographer Göran Strand (who also did the Z9 ISO test I published earlier):

“Put the new Nikon Z9 up for a speed test today. With an exposure time of 1/32,000 and 120 frames per second you can catch a bullet as it leaves the rifle. Pretty impressive 🙂 Nikon Z9 with Nikon AF-S 300mm f/4E PF ED VR”

B&H and Amazon are now preparing to send Nikon Z9 shipments to non-NPS members

Both B&H Photo and Amazon are now preparing to ship the Nikon Z9 camera to non-NPS members – the current batch is for pre-orders placed on October 28:
